Hi, all I'm on vacation. My brother's 4 month old Bernese Mountain Dog is showing signs of Pano. Any recommendations for pain relief or vitamin supplements?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks,

I know I will get slapped for this but I say take him off high protein puppy food.

Hope your vacation is going great and we expect lots of pics.

Done that, but still limping on the one front paw and one back paw. Looking for relief, it just doesn't look good. Patience? I suppose, but it is hard to do nothing.

Thanks, SP we are having a great time.

Hi I know it sounds crazy but I have used   woman's pre -natal vitamins   on several dogs. The first sign of limping that I think is pano I start and it goes away.  I had one pup before I started this that had pano so bad I had to use Rimadyl. When she got it, it would take about 5 days of rimadyl before she could really walk. Was strange as she was sort of fine bone. Seems to be more of a problem in dogs with better bone
Also I may use puppy food  when they first come to me but by 12 weeks they are on adult. They will grow, they really do not need all the stuff in puppy. Especially if there is some DDR in there

i have used Ester C with very good results, i was giving 1 tab (1000mg) once a day. after a week or so it was gone.
my guy had it pretty bad too.

DDR knows exactly what works for pano (the most severe), and here it is

Veterinarians in Carson are working to save 64 German shepherds that were living in squalid conditions at the Gardena kennel. Most of the animals were kept in tiny crates that were filled with excrement.

An officer was called to the kennel because of loud and continuous barking coming from the South Bay Pet Inn. Many of the dogs were living in carriers that were just 2 x 3 feet wide.

"They couldn't move around for exercise. Three was no food or water in most of the cages. Inside the living room of the house was a female German shepherd with five little puppies in one of those carriers."

Janice Bartmess denies the allegations that were made on Thursday. She thinks the problems of the kennel are being exaggerated. "I say it's exaggerated and there's a lot of lying going on. I'm not saying everything was perfect. I think the situation between my side and what they are saying is absolutely bipolar ...."

TRASH Janice Bartmess = convicted for abuse/neglect.......although she will say it was AR activists and write novels defending the abuse. http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/8106/CA/US/ Rob........BITCH

Beetree,

I hope you and yours are having a wonderful vacation.

Did your GSD get to go?

by beetree on 02 August 2010 - 19:08

Thanks Ninja!

We are home now, those pictures are from vacation. We were packing to go, while my brother and his family were arriving, (it is my sister's beach house, she lets family have a week each summer.)  We had fabulous weather and my boys met up with a great group of kids and had the time of their lives. This was Mojo's second year at the beach. I must say he was a fabulous "ambassador for the breed". He let little girls dote on him and was properly aloof with other dogs. Here are a few more of him...

... once a couch potato.... what can I say? It's vacation ;)

and here he is searching for his bully stick!
