Okay, first and foremost.
THIS IS HYPOTHETICAL ONLY. JUST FOR INFORMATION AND BLOODLINE DISCUSSION!
Are we clear? The bitch is hip and elbow certified, titled and SPAYED! The male is just a PUPPY!! I AM NOT NOT NOT A BREEDER. This is just for fun, please!
Now that all the disclaimers are out of the way. To those who do study bloodlines, traits of the different lines and the like, how would you pick mates for the following.
AGAIN, THIS IS JUST FOR FUN!
1) 3 year old Czech Female. Strengths: Tracking, extremely handler attentive, fantastic temperment with small children, small dogs, other dogs, cats. Good prey drive, eagerness to learn and please, ver vocal and willing to engage the helper on the field. Fantastic health, no allergies, good hips and elbows, clear thyroid, good pigment. Very clear head between work and home.
Weaknesses: Grips could be stronger, towards the small side of standard, very handler sensitive (She bounces back from a fair correction but she does remember it!), more prey driven than defensive.
2) Currently 11 month old Western/Czech male:
Not much known about him yet, due to age but what we do know to this point.
Strength: Incredible grips, full, calm and hard. Good constituation. Very good and solid temperment, gentle with children, small animals, other dogs. Dominant personality, both testicals descended.
Weaknesses: A little slow to mature, haven't X-rayed him yet so can't tell you his hips and elbows.
For the SAKE OF THE EXPERIMENT let's say his hips and elbows are good/fair.
So, again this is just for fun. How would you match em up and why?

The female is SPAYED...right?...So what's to talk about...? There are a number of things to go on when deciding on if you should breed them...and then on who to breed them to....
*Pedigree
*Personality
*Temperament
*Workability
*Conformation
*What kind of a breeder are they...Good mother/bad mother (females)
*There are a lot of Variables to think about when choosing a mating partner....
**And of course this is saying that everything else is in place...Good Hips/Elbows....etc.

Bob,
Yes, the female is spayed this was simply an exercise in hypothetical speculation.
We all take ourselves so seriously on this board but maybe there are people who would like to put up a line and read what some of the expert breeders would say about matching the lines and why.
Personally I would love to learn from Prager, who works with Czech lines, what lines he felt would cross well with the two dogs I put up and why.
It's simply an educational question.
