Krazy Bout K9s

by Krazy Bout K9s on 27 July 2010 - 22:07

BUYERS BEWARE:
Okay, I am getting in this dog bred from Omega Shepherds, CLANCY, MT..The people got the pup at 5 1/2 weeks old. WAY TOO YOUNG!!! As it's ears started standing they noticed the left one was deformed, Omega told them that the new owners must have done something to it...sorry, it is definately deformed, I saw it for myself today...also the skin in front of the ear as you can see has extra skin.

They weren't willing to work with the people and the people didn't want to let the dog get put down...they paid $2500 for this pup...

Also the dog is almost totally deaf, high pitched noise okay, not low to mid tones...
it also has Pannus...
Sweet natured dog, very much a talker, a very plush coat, longer and thicker than it should be...is longer and very much thicker than it looks here...
Just for anyone thinking about purchasing a dog from them...also read all the rip-off reports about them....ummmm, very unhappy couple...going to be a tough one to adopt out too.

What is the "lump" of skin in front of the deformed ear? You can see it best in the last photo.  Curious.  Wow, can't believe they paid that amount for that dog!  Thanks for helping the poor guy (dog)!

A number of years ago I almost got a pup from Omega until I started asking about hip and elbow xrays and the response I got was that they didn't see any need to xray the parents of their litters because those parents came from dogs with titles and good hips and elbows.  Needless to say, I never had any further contact with them after such an insane response.  Very glad I moved on.

They bought 2 females and a male littermate to my Ursus Batu son. Perhaps thet dog you're questioning had surgery to assist an ear to stnd?.

The lump is extra skin, saggy, with lots of long hair on it. The backs of the ears also have extra long hair in a spot...
There is a definate crease (not sure if crease is the correct explanation) along the length of the ear.
I am awaiting the parentage papers on this dog...will let you know who the dam and sire are.

I am not taking sides with anyone, but don't you think with that much of a deformity, the buyers should have noticed it as soon as it came up....How old is the dog now.. Looks to be at least 1yr old... Why are they giving up on this dog now...Is there another reason why they are parting with this dog NOW and not sooner..?  If they got this dog at 5 1/2 wks old, which I agree is way too young, how can they just let him go...Surely they must have some attachment to this dog....Not to mention the $2500 they purchased him for...I just don't understand...But I guess they have their reason(s).

Is this this Omega Kennel that shows and breeds American showline GSDs. If it is, that may explain why the puppy was sold at such a young age. Any knowledgable breeder would have caught the obvious deformity at that young age, which would eliminated that pup as a show perspect....JUST MY OPINION!!!!

It almost looks like 2 ears that fused together in the pictures; if that's the case then the inner ear structures would be malformed which would cause the hearing loss.

Poor girl - I hope she finds a great home.

Omega German Shepherds in Clancy Montana, from what I have heard, they don't do anything with their dogs...and Papillons, and QH's...

It is the husbands dog, the wife takes care of it, but she has labs of her own.
The husband won't spend time with the dog or be alpha over it. He is not getting enough attention so barks and talks...He cannot hear so can't hear himself bark I guess. He is a big separation anxiety talker....howl, etc...
They tried to get me to take him a year ago, but I was too full.,...tried to find homes on their own, but can't find the right placement for him.
I am trying to get the wife to either accept the dog as hers, it minds her just fine, or retrain her hubby, good luck on that one!!!! LOL...trying to get them to keep it...
Needs to be with a family with maybe one other dog, or just a couple so it can get more attention. And one that will make it do what it is supposed to do...

They did notice it when it came up, that is when they tried to work with the breeder. Breeder said it was the new owners FAULT, got it torn or something....yeh right...

They have accepted the Pannus and hearing loss as part of the dog, they love it, but are having problems with the anxiety and constant barking...

I am so glad its not the Showline kennel. They are very well respected breeders in the American Showline GSDs. At least they were back in the 90's.

Can't imagine this breeder selling a puppy for 2500.00 and won't backup what they sell... I also CAN NOT believe someone paying for a puppy without a written warranty, unless there was one... But as we all know, that piece of paper is only as good as the person who signs it.. Its really sad... I do hope the wife will at least try to keep that poor baby...It makes me sick, the ethics of some people....
