Hi, I took my dog for a ear wax cleanup routine and the vet also gave him a tick bath. Then she gave him an antiallergic injection. Ever since coming back home after that, he has been crying and licking at the base of his tail area and crying. This is the exact spot where he was vaccinated. Please help what should I do. I cannot see him in pain. Has some of his nerve got damaged while giving the vaccination??? What should I do regards Vikram

Was it an injection under the skin or into a muscle? Odd place to inject anything... Under the skin is usually done in the neck area, between shoulderblades, or the flank, where the skin is pretty loose. Could be a reaction to the injection. Might be better to phone the vet right away and not take any guessing games here.

Just got back from a third Vet visit. The vet told me that my dog had developed Dermititus skin dryness due to the strong tick shampoo used by the first vet in giving the bath. So finally I'm happy that its not something major. Showed him to the best Vet in town. Thanks to all of you for your help and concern Special thanks to Wizard for introducing me to a good doctor. regards vikram

What I use when my dogs get skin dyness is Head and Shoulders shampoo, it helps with skin dryness and cures flakyness and any sores. It is cheaper then the dog shampoos and for any reactions that my dog may get from the flea and tick shampoos, plus it works great for HOT SPOTS, also once a week I feed them a small amount of plain yogert!!!! Sandra....
