Hello Everyone, I have heard that GSD dogs selling is one of the top 10 revenue earning business for Germany. Is it true? How much is the turnover any idea? Thank you.

Hi Sumo, if you find out how that is going to work, please let me know asap ! Yeah, if have 1 or two VA Dogs......and about 10 breeding bitches, one is going to be able to make a living. But that is not going to be fun......there are quite a lot of unknown factors in that game. Regards Ulli Dresbach

Sumo, I don't want to start something here but I think someone told you a story. Very few of us have any puppy money left at the end of the year unless we are professional breeders and are very, very lucky with many years in the business and have produced many successful dogs. I doubt that many Germans are making any more money than the rest of us, unless you think of large established kennels such as Batu, Wildsteigerland, Wienerau, etc. who are in business for many years. If you can make money and improve the breed-it's okay. The key word is improve. Personally, I don't know any wealthy breeders either in Germany or stateside and I don't think that I ever will. Sadly, the only people I know who make regularly make money selling puppies are puppy mill operators. And we know how sorry that business is. Oskar1 is stating where one would have to start and I guess with a $ 200,000.00-$ 250,000.00 investment (two VA dogs and ten V bitches) one could produce ten (10) litters/year (the maximum allowed by the S.V.) and possibly lose only 75% the first year and maybe break even or make a bit of money during the following years. If you break even stateside or in Germany, then you are doing very well. You do it for the love and improvement of the breed.
