Steph, just curious, but did you and other GSD lovers go through with your plans to meet and party? Tell us..... if you did, if you don't mind....  !     I'd like to hear about the 360° night skies being lit up, and all the fun with the horses and dogs.

beetree,
My husband Paul and I arrived in Montana on Monday and left on Friday so we didn't get to see the fireworks on the 4th.  Crysbuck and Annie Oakley arrived from Idaho on Thursday so we got to visit with them for a couple of hours Friday morning before we had to hit the road back to Wichita, Ks.

I can say this about Steph's hospitality...no matter how great you think she is...you can't come close to knowing what a fantastic person she really is.  Her front door is open to man and beast and the GSDs were running free there.  Our 21mo old girl, Echo was never properly socialized but she quickly learned how the pack works and she is a different dog now, thanks to Steph, Bo, Red, Dixie, Ruger, Brook & Oakley .  Steph also has a couple of rescues that need homes desperately.  Leila is sweet, sweet, sweet and OB trained but she suffers from pannus and needs to be the only dog in the home.  Lucy is a beautiful black 1.5yr bitch with the black bleeding on her feet, who came from a home where she received no training what so ever so she is learning some discipline.  Both dogs need a firm, loving hand and would make great pets, possibly good agility or herding dogs.

Steph went out of her way to make us feel at home and showing us the beautiful sites of Hamilton.  I even got to dig for saphires (yes I found some!).  If we win the lottery we will be moving to Montana!  It really is heaven on earth and Steph is proof of angels.

Too bad the rest of you didn't make it.  You have no idea what you missed.  Between Steph's camera and mine, I have about 600 shots to go thru...here are just a sampling.

I'm sad to say that I wasn't able to get out there.I have been watching a client's dog for the past month and am staying at their house till the 12th.On the 13th I have a police K-9 demo that I am going to watch. A friend of mine goes up there once in a while so maybe we can road trip it up there and I can finally see Steph and all the animals.Great pictures!! Looks absolutly beautiful!!

Our USA has so many pretty places for good dog pics, especially Stephs place.

Ok, here are a few more...

Brook (in Steph's mudroom) trying to entice me to play ball...note her pig face...explains the snorting she does.  She is a sweetie!  Not up for adoption either.  She has found her forever home with Steph.

This is one view from Steph's front gate.

This doesn't do the cabin justice!  It really is awesome inside and out.  Steph has every reason to be proud!

This was the view from the porch of our Cabin we rented despite Steph insisting we stay with her.  It's just a couple of miles down the road from her place.

Oakley on the left, Echo on the right getting to know each other...you would never know Oakley is blind!  Once she maps out a place in her mind she is right at home.  Amazing to watch her work it out.  She loves everyone!  Very happy to greet you.

Paul & Echo in front of Scalkaho Falls...not sure I spelled it correctly...a trip up a paved 2-lane that turned into a gravel road that turned into a one lane path, no shoulders, blind curves.  Once we peeled Paul's fingers from the door frame he enjoyed the view and the trip back down as well.  LOL

Love the pictures Debi.   Please post more.  The scenery is gorgeous.   Now that Echo has been swimming in the Lake, he will "turn up his nose" at his little "swimmy pool" at home - hahaha     Is the Lake close to Steph's house?

The lake is very close to Steph's place.  It's raining like crazy here so no swimmy pool...not sure how Echo will react after swimming in the lake.  Funny thing and naturally I didn't have my camera with me but Echo fell into Steph's pond out behind the cabin.  We laughed our butts off it was so funny.  She has never been around something like that before and she kept trying to walk all the way around it but Steph's fence cuts across it so she would come up against the fence.  When she couldn't get past the fence she would step over the edge and get her front feet wet, jump back and race around the pond to the other side, same situation.  She half fell in a dozen times but the best was when her whole right side, front and back fell in.  She hung on with her left side and splashed around in the water with her right forepaw trying to find the bottom of the pond.  Finally she lost her grip and slid gently into the water and swam all the way across the water to the other side and climbed out.  She was more careful after that and never did just jump in like Steph's dogs do but she continued splashing around the edges and racing around the yard with them.

We took a lot of pics out the window as we drove along on our 3-day trip to Montana.

A storm rolling in...huge thunderstorm hit while we were there, trees down across the roads and no power for hours at our cabin so Steph had us come to hers for our morning shower...no power, no water in the pump house.  We lost power about 11:00pm and didn't get it back until about 3:00pm.  Thank goodness for Steph's hospitality -again!

This is a shot of clouds down on the mountains...surreal.

This was between Missoula & Hamilton...can't have a road trip without road construction. UGH!
