That´s not unusual, when ther´re blacks in the pedigree before.

It means that yourfemale carries the black gene as well as the male does.

That's not unusual.. ... have bred 2 sables, gotten sables and blk/tan and I know mom carries blk recessive.. what's more unusual is i have a grey sable who came from a bi color sire and a black mother or so I'm told.... I questioned it formthe time I bought her..... have to have a sable parent to get a sable puppy.. my geneticist friend saysit can't happe and I agree.. bought her anyway .. needed a puppy fix so bad!
Things that make ya go hmmmmm...

I've had it happen before where I've bred black/tan to sable and mathmatically you're only supposed to expect approx. 25% solid black, what came out was 75% LOL, 6 out of 8 pups.  Sometimes nature does her own thing

I had something similar happen a few years ago but after thinking about it, guess it makes sense.

Female: Blanket black and tan/black X Sable/Black = 9 Puppies 3 Black, 1 blanket black&Tan, 2 sable/B&T (B&T pattern sables), 3 Sable/Black (Very very Dark Sable w/penciling and tarheels)

Same Female X Black = 3 puppies, all Bi-color of varying shades ( 1 very very dark almost no tan, 1 med. with red/tan and one lighter but the black is creeping down his legs and is keeping the tarheels)

both parents carry black recessive - and I'll bet the bicolor is a dark black/tan in the end.  Not unusual.

ANY PICTURES TO SEE?

by tweetypie796 on 03 July 2010 - 13:07

The sire is registered on here "joker von der law" you can see his pedigree I'm new to this website so my dam isn't on here but I believer her parents are "eick vom suhler wappen " is the sire and " Lakota vom kraichgauer" is the dam. She is a solid black. The litter is only 4 days old but you can tell the bi color has the tan around the vent and on the feet. The other six are solid black except for a few tan hairs in the bottom of their feet between the pads. But no tan hair at the vent. I was surprised since I thought black was recessive gene.
