          Who's behind the Avatar ????

I had the pleasure of becoming Facebook friends with a member of the Database today. I know that  some people are not big fans of Facebook, but Facebook has it's advantages. For example, on the Database we have the
Avatar,,,,,,,We hide behind  pictures of dogs, rats, monkeys. elephants and various logos. Also, the user name is a form of disguise too. If you thought some of the pics were funny...lol...the user names are even funnier. I really like this Database so don't get me wrong. However, I wonder if there would be less" trouble" on the Database if we saw each other as we really are..... people with names ( and feelings)...not avatar pictures and user names. JMO....

Exactly, been saying it forever. I get tired of saying it. I will tell you this also everyone should have to do it and there should be some form of verification. IMO

Great idea, and I'm all for it, but it'll never happen. Too many people are too afraid to stand behind their name. They find excuses but you won't get them to budge...  it's just too safe and comfy hiding behind the computer screen.  Also, people like that like to bitch about what *others* do, but don't have the guts to open themselves up to inspection.  All in all, I don't have much respect for people who can't sign their name to something they have written.

Diane, I have meant to mention this many times.  I just love the dog's face on your avatar.  What a happy look!

May I just say that many on here are known by name to others.  I personally know many people on here, and they know me.  I am all for using real names, but until it's mandatory, what's to stop anybody from making up a name?  You still wouldn't know for sure, so asking that people do it freely is kind of moot.

Well, if most people used their real names than it would make those hiding more uncomfortable about it. And then it would be obvious who is hiding behind avatars and user names.....By the way, I really like using the avatar to show off my pics and the user name is a fun creative way to express yourself. However, I think in a lot of cases it's used here on the Database as something to throw arrow's from behind......Just sayin...

My name is in my screen name and I sign most of my posts when I'm not hurrying... My avatar is usually one with me and one of my dogs :-)

My username is my real name, Crys Buck.  The picture on my avatar is my German Shepherd Dog, Annie Oakley.  I am known by several members of this database through phone calls, email, and a couple of them in person.  So I am not hiding behind any false information, who I am is who I am, like it or not.  I own what I write.

I have not posted my address and other personal information on here, simply because there are limits to the level of trust I place in a forum that is read by the entire world, and there are some crazies out there, on this board.  I have a Myspace page, but I am not on Facebook.  There is no personal information posted on Myspace either, as again, there are limits to the level of trust I place in any online community.  It may be private, but it can be hacked, and there are folks who have nothing better to do than hack and steal information, so one must be careful what they put out there.

There have been pictures posted of me, some by me, and some by others.  Steph or DebiSue posted a picture of Steph, DebiSue, Paul, and me, with dogs, at Steph's place during the GSD Reunion, and I have posted pictures of myself before, as well.

Crys
