OK, raw- - - -
I'm sure you don't just throw a hunk of raw food into a bowl, do you grind it, mix it with something, make it in bulk & freeze it,
do you add supplements, how much do you feed at a time.  Do you use a variety of meat together, or just one kind?
Help me out here.

thanks

Pharaoh

Here is my recipe for Pharaoh's breakfast.

Buy whole chicken with giblets.  Throw big white fatty globs into garbage if the store hasn't done so already.

Cut in half and then in half again.  Now, you have 4 quarters.

Alternative preparation, ask butcher to cut into 4 quarters and nothing fussy because it is for your dog.

Put one chicken quarter in stainless bowl and give to dog.

In the afternoon, since I am staying at a hotel temporarily, I give him two cups of Taste of the Wild Wetlands formula soaked for 1/2 hour in one cup of water,

When I am in my new house I will some days give him a 1 pound chubb of Excalibur from GreenTripe.com.  I order about 40 pounds and they deliver it in a big box frozed hard as a rock.  Pharaoh loves it.  I take a chubb and put it in a stainless bowl with a paper towel over it and put it in the top shelf in the refrigerator to defrost.  It is a complete formula and needs nothing.

I used to use a supplement but I found out that flax makes him a little bit itchy.  He also does not do well with salmon oil.  That is why I use the Wetlands formula as it is the only dog food I can find that does not have vegetable oil or flax in it.

I rotate giving him raw egg yolks or canned sardines packed in water with no salt.

This is what works for me and my dog.  It also happens to be easy.  I figured it out by observation and flexibility.  It is not a religion.  Just like if you are feeding a child, you have to do research and find a system that works for your dog.

Good luck,

Michele

Hi,

If you are looking for a book with receipes I can recommend Dr Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. With Dr Pitcairn's receipes you need a lot of little supplements that are expensive at first but as you only use little amounts every day last for a long time.
Personally, for a working GSD I can recommend daily 500 gr green (fresh unwashed) tripe and , instead of tripe once a week,  500 gr fresh beef heart. Both offered with cooked veggies or 1/4 cup of Happy Dog or Royal Canin. I add 1 teaspoon or chopped garlic a week and 1 tblspoon of canola oil every now and then. Sometimes I offer different meats, but never raw pork or chicken.
There are many different options how to feed raw food and different receipes work for different people and dogs (and life styles), so you will probably find out what exactly works best for you when you try out different things.
