Im sure this has been answered on here already but I cant find the information when searching the messageboard. Im probably not putting in the correct wording to find it so I figured Id just go ahead and ask.
I read that the SV passed a rule regarding microchipping litters instead of tattoos. Does this rule only apply to those pups born in 2010 or after or does everyone who wants to trial their dog need to have their dog chipped?
Thanks for any info!

Hi Donna,
According to an SV info published in 2009( www.schaeferhunde.de/site/fileadmin/pdf/presseinfo/2009/SVZTG_10-2009.pdf ) all puppies born on and after first of January, 2010 have to be microchipped. The SV has special chips and chip readers for SV registered puppies only (I'm not sure if the are available internationally yet - ask your local WUSV club). For older dogs a tattoo seems to be enough, however all dogs travelling within the European Union have to be microchipped starting 2011 (that would include EU trials).
