Bhall

by Bhall on 16 June 2010 - 14:06

These x-rays are of a 4 months old Male German Shepherd.  I posted these before but I can't find the post.  I need opinions on the positioning.  I know positioning could make a difference and I do think that at 4 months of age it is too early to make a determination.
Of course the vet said that the puppy needs surgery immediately and needs to be put on meds.

The positioning isn't great but the left hip is barely in the socket

sorry the hips are bad I know he is young but I don't think those are going to ever pass a certification.

The pelvic bones look really weird on the left side.  I might wait until this puppy is older and Xray again.

cage,  what makes you say the positioning is good?  I do not decline that the hips are not good but the positioning is the worst I have ever seen.

Hold on, don't jump your guns.  Laxity, even to this extent can be NORMAL in young puppies - I took x-rays of an 8 week old due to a limp, and it looked like someone had taken a mallet to all of his joints - nothing was even close to touching each other.  Scary in fact.  4 months old is WAYYYYY too young to say this laxity isn't normal and won't tighten up.  And yes, the positioning is also terrible.
