Hello,  I have a 14month male that was tested and has no sperm.  He has none at all dead or alive.  He was negative for Brucellosis, has never been bred and has Always been very healthy.  He is a VERY large male and is about 105 pounds and not filled out.  He does have VERY VERY small testicles.  They are about what you would expect on a 4-5 month male and not a 14 month male.  He does have the drive to breed and will go nuts around a female in heat.  Has anyone had experience with this and does anyone know what the chances are of him being usable as a stud dog in the future?

I don't  know how realistic financially it would be, to look into treatment for a dog with azoospermia.  What caused you to even check the sperm on a 14 month old male?

Did you have him tested to see if he in fact produces sperm at all?   It could be that he produces sperm, but is "cannabalizing" it.   At the same time, I hae always heard from folks involved with cattle that testical size is related to fertility...   Did you go to a repro vet?

Have you always owned him??  Possibility of someone doing a vasectomy?

Testicle size does have a definate correlation to sperm production

If your dog is outdoors a lot in hot weather as well as very active, these are conditions that kill sperm.  Try keeping him in with AC and with little exercise  and sperm will be produced if everything is ok with him.  If after doing this the dog still has no sperm, something might be wrhong with him

Good luck

Hi All....  Thanks for responding.   The male himself is NOT in a hot place.  It is not above 70 and he ALWAYS has shade and plenty of water.  He is not overly active any more than any other young dog.   He has had 2 collections done at a reproduction clinic and had NO live or dead sperm at all.  His actual testicles are no bigger than a grape at best.  I have had him since he was 8 weeks and he has always been very very healthy with never any signs of anything.  He has never been sick a day in his life.  He was VERY easy to collect and aroused quickly when put with an in heat dog.     I don't know if anyone has had this problem before and then retested at a later age and they were fine? Please let me know.  THANKS SO MUCH.

I will firstSame size as a grape?? I am afraid he might be already fixed..check with whomever you got him from..there should be some sperm or color at least, even if it's dead, unless he's been fixed..sometimes,when they are fixed, they put a couple of plastic balls to make him look normal...
otherwise, treat him with a broad spectrum antibiotic for 14 or 21 days in case he has some type of infection...
other reasons could be the "tubes" that carry the sperm from the testes are stuffed up and infected....But the size of the testes is very unusual, should be double that size at that age
good luck,
