The support we got, not only while Sam was sick but after we lost her was wonderful, and I am infinitely grateful for it. (We have printed off a poem posted after Sam passed and it is framed and stuck up with pictures of Sam in her 'memory area')
And an individual thank you to Hodie, who was just unbelievable with how much she helped.
And I'm sure you'll all be glad to know, I have decided to set up a Dog Resue/Shelter here in Malaysia. The purpose of this will be to not only help and re-home strays, but also to educate Malaysians on dog care to try and increase the quality of life for dogs here. You'll probably see a few threads in regard to this in the upcoming days.
So, sorry for the long post and thank you again everyone.

Sabrina, I'm glad you're moving on and giving back in such a way. It's very sad when one loses a young dog, I did, so I know how heartbreaking it can be. Hodie doesn't frequent this board anymore because there are those here who harassed her because she's blunt and to the point when it comes to breeding, training and properly caring for our wonderful GSD. What we're left with, unfortunately, are mere opinions of some much less educated and knowledgeable. If these same people were the only ones here, I'm sorry to say you wouldn't have found the educated support that you received. I have Hodie's email address and will pass on your gratitude and let her know of your plans. Thanks so much for caring enough to move forward in such a positive direction. Good luck in all you do.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I remember the heroic effort and suffering you went through for Sam. I too, agree with you, that Hodie was extremely helpful in your doomed quest to save your dog, against all odds. Knowing that your Sam has inspired you to help the suffering of dogs and their people of Malaysia, to educate and care for their animals, is a beautiful testament to your kind spirit and love for the animals that we choose to share in our lives.
I am very glad to see you posting here, and had thought of you often, as so many of us shared your pain and grief. I pray God will bless you and your new endeavor with success.

Sabrina,
Thank you so much for the update. We always wonder how people are coping after losing a dog...as we have all been there. It sounds like you are moving forward and what a wonderful way to remember your Sam by doing what you are doing. That is a beautiful thing and it means that her death was not in vain...something good truly came of her sacrifice. What will be the name of your shelter? I think you should name it after Sam but that's just my opinion.
RIP Sam, good girl.

And yes, we were planning on naming the rescue after Sam and another one of our dogs. It will be dedicated to her.
I was very sad to hear Hodie is no longer on this board, she was really incredible in helping us and I am so grateful to her. It was completely apparent that she cares for dogs 100%, and is very sad that this great board has lost such a valuable member.
I'm just getting some things in order and will be back very soon with some questions re: the rescue / shelter.
I hope we have as many kind people helping us with that as well.
Thanks.

I am sorry to hear of your dog's passing....
Hodie was a great comfort to me as well, as were several other members of this board.....their contributions are "priceless".
Good luck to you and your future in this breed....
Sincerely,
Robin
