Was walking by the dove cage today and they were going nuts!! Flapping about and trying to get out. They usually don't do that.So I looked around and didn't see anything. Then went a bit closer and there was a snake!! A long one.I thought at first it might be a rattler but then later looked at it after I got my friend and noticed it was only a Gopher Snake. Phew!! So we caught it and put it in a cage. Going to release her tomorrow in a place that is safe and where she can't be naughty and cause problems with the doves. I think she was just looking to eat the dove eggs cause she can't fit a whole dove in her mouth. She was very docile and let me handle her.(yes i know it is a female cause I checked)

Cool! My DH stopped once while driving because he saw a snake in the road. So of course he had to stop and "help" it. When he picked it up, it actually peed on him! Consider yourself lucky, Now, we have no idea if his was boy or girl snake, but I'm guessing, boy.

HAHA that's funny Bee. I have only been peed on by toads and frogs but never a snake. Have a few lizards I have caught and was bit by one but it didn't do damage as it's mouth was the size of my pinkie nail. I will keep that story in mind the next time I handle a wild snake.lol

How could you pick up a snake? is this a type of snake that does not sting and kill? The thought of it makes me shiver!!
Ibrahim
Do we call it snake bite or snake sting, or maybe snake something else??

It's musk, not pee, it's a defense mechanism and is usually foul smelling. Never handled poisonous snakes but caught many garter snakes, grass snakes and milk snakes as a child. Garter snakes are notorious for musking, especially if handled wrong, I got it many times.

Vom Marischal towards the end of the tail on the under belly(there is a slit) if pushed on and it is male 2 spurs protrude and the tail is thicker and then goes thin.If it is a female the tail is no difference in size and no spurs come out. I use to have to sex them at the pet store i worked at when i was a kid.I was the only one that knew anything about the animals.
