Just wondering how many that feed raw give their dogs rabbits and what parts besides the meat and bone are ok to feed. Also, how many of you given the oppritunity would feed rabbit.

FYI if you live anywhere near Lexington/Thomasville NC there is a place called Schuler meats that can get in fresh chicken necks and backs for .25lb.

Thank you,
Melissa

I feed ground rabbit, it has everything except the guts in it, even the fur.

I was gonna say, I'd feed it field dressed.  Although, I do believe I'd leave the room while the head's being chomped!

Id be curious to know if there is enough fat in rabbits. ive always heard that they are extremely low in fat and actually good to eat for people.

Bhaugh, I grew up eating wild game and rabbit was usually used in stew or pot pie.  My father was an avid hunter.

Rabbit is ok to feed occassionally but it doesn't have enough fat to be fed as a regular staple in the diet.. it is too lean.....

I kind of figured they were too lean to use as a staple but we have bunnies coming out the wazoo. We killed and field dressed a couple the other night and getting ready to feed the puppies their first raw meal.

I'll kill them but there's no way in heck I'll gut, skin or eat them myself. The same goes for deer.

I'll take some pics and post of puppies first raw meal. Should be pretty interesting.

thehy are fine to eat rabbit, but don't make buggs bunny the staple of their diet. every now and then is fine, or mix with beef.

chicken and turkey necks are like pretzels and potato chips for your dogs - addicting, can't have just one, they love it.

That's funny, Melba, same with me. I shot a wild boar last year and fed it to the dogs. I always have meat, two freezers full...but the damn stuff is dog food as far as I'm concerned. I've been a veg for 40 years (HOLY CRAP!) but am up to my armpits in meat every day.
