I have a 16 mo. old female that I am not going to breed.  My questions is should I do her hips and elbows anyways?  She is proving to be a great worker.  I have had a few people tell me whats the point.  Would like some other opinions.

Thanks,

Hi I always get the hips and elbows done dont matter if I am going to breed or not I get them done and good or bad it lets me know how much work I can give my dog also it gives me peace of mind that if the hips /elbow are bad I am not going to do damage to the dog with to much work but it is up to the the owner what they want to do good luck with your girl and enjoy her

Yes, I agree, always do x-rays! You don't have to send them in just let the vet evaluate her. It's important to know for working dogs in any case if you are working on endurance, jumping or agility. Even a jump in the car can be dangerous if the hips or elbows are dislocated.
