Is there no vaccine for tick fever? My dog showed symptoms last year and the vet gave him antibiotics & other injections iv to help fight the problem. He was fine till just recently he again started bleeding from his nose. The blood was all around. I consulted another vet and he said that this is a relapse of the same problem and he's a carrier. He gave some antibiotics iv and an iron injection. But he says that there is no vaccine yet for the tick fever and it will come back after a few months. Is this true? If not, then what is the vaccine because I tried searching the web and the pages that come up just show the treatment and no vaccine or just precautions.

At present, the only vaccine available for dogs is one effective against Babesia canis canis; unfortunately, it offers no protection against the other species such as B. gibsoni, which is the most common agent of the disease in Asia. Dogs infected with the B. gibsoni species typically remain infected despite treatment, and consequently will often become symptomatic again and require further treatment.
