Hitting a dog with sleeve?

So I came along an add of a "dual purpose working dog" for sale, a female. The other add for this same dog has a video to watch of them working with her. Maybe a nice dog, but what is the point of hitting a dog in the face with the sleeve?, that seems kind of stupid to me? The guy smacks the dog in the face with the sleeve, kind of kicks the dog in the muzzle a little at one point, and later brags about you get a dog with good nerves if you buy from them. I'm sure others on this board have seen that video, but honestly, what's the point in hitting a dog in the face with the sleeve?

I think I know what video you are talking about - a sable female,around 2 years old - am I right?
I was pretty disgusted when I saw it,I like that female,she seems to be a nice dog with very good drives and nerves but that guy who calls himself a decoy is a shame.If he did this to my dogs I would quickly show him the way.
He would be really suprised if he tried this on my Hessy - she is a very tough,fast and dominant female and takes the bitework really seriously

Yeah, thats the video. Looks like a nice dog, but unfortunate she has to work with someone like that.

Looks like bad training. I would not let anyone train my dog that way. Looks like cruelty. Possibly they just want to show the dog can take pressure from the decoy. I will not mention that the trainer looks, sound, acts like a hillbilly.

There's so much wrong with that video I wouldn't know where to start. Wow, I'm just going to shake my head and feel sorry the dog has to deal with that jackass.

Maybe some one should take the sleeve and whip and smack the helper in the head!! Just a thought..

or maybe crack the whip on him and then let the dog bite him for being a fool and hitting the dog in the face with the sleeve dident he also kind of kick the muzzle of the dog hmmmm he needs a new job!! egghead
