Two Moons

by Two Moons on 16 May 2010 - 01:05

Resurrected from the grave,
Update.

Took the dogs to the river today for a swim, a pleasant afternoon.

The ticks are starting to get the better of me, I may yet go back to using the Frontline.

What did you and your dog do today?

Moons.

Went to town for some grub.  Carly rode in the back of the truck as usual.  I have a tie down system.
We played ball for about an hour.  Then we both took a nap.  She has already demolished the bone
I bought her today.    She is shedding really bad, will be glad when that's over.

I am trying to learn to post videos.  Please don't hurt me while I am screwing up.  And I will screw up.

Went to see my friend and her Great Pyrenees...he moves so slowly, compared to my dogs. I don't see the appeal. I like him a lot, just not my type of dog. He's very big and fluffy. Sleeps a lot.

Thinking about walking to a dog park tomorrow, to practice focus around distractions (outside the dog park, I loathe dog parks).

We all seem to have things in common,
Ticks, love of horses...lol.
Nothing as sweet as a new foal, puppies are sweet but they don't stand up with those big innocent eyes.

I can't take Indy in the back of the truck without ties on both sides, he would jump out if the temptation was strong enough.
Maddy is almost done shedding, the river helps get the loose fur out, yep glad it's almost over too.

The video worked, your doing alright.

Found out the hard way one of my new neighbors has a pair of Great Pyrenees, they came strolling down the road the other day.  These are not friendly or fluffy.

Sometimes it helps to set up distractions to avoid complications.

I tried to get a little work out of the gang today but had all three of them together and it's better to just let them play.

They wanted to catch a Buzzard who had claimed a dead Ground Hog by the side of the road, that was the end of the outing for the day.

Thanks for sharing guys.

Went to a facility with them to do pet assisted therapy. It was a place I'd never been before. They provide geratric care and care for severely disabled children, most on ventilators. We've been to rehabs/nursing homes plenty of times, but this was something new for the dogs- a lot of strange sounds from the various "machines" the kids had attached to them, not to mention the children exhibited unfamiliar actions (many have CP) and vocal sounds, but nothing seems to phase our dogs- they are so solid.  It broke my heart to see these kids, but felt good to spend time with them and the dogs were wonderful with them- laid down on the floor with them. My girl put her head in the lap of a little two year old.  The kids, to the best of their abilities tried to pet them and nuzzle with them. Of course we visited the geriatric residents as well. It was very rewarding and I think we'll go back very soon.

starrchar, that sounds like a very rewarding experience!  Thank you for sharing it!

My adventures will begin in a few hours.  Today is D-Day (dog sitting for my daughter).  I have to go to work for a few hours.  Then, let the games begin!  I'm sure I'll have some to share.

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun yesterday. All of it sounds great....going to the river for a swim, playing ball, searching in the woods and just having fun wiht your dogs. Today we're going for a hike at a local park, but of course here in the Florida heat I don't know how long we'll last :(  I envy all of your northerners right now!
