Kalibeck

My daughter was surprised by these guys yesterday...they were on her front porch scratching their backs on the porch posts. There was another cub she didn't get in the picture...! A huge momma & 3 teen age cubs! Astro, her GSD (my pup), was ready to launch himself through the window in her & the grandkids defense, but he (disappointed, I'm sure, but safe) was sent to his box while the family of bears sauntered through the yard, played with the swing, & then had a snack at the neighbors bird feeder. I think I'll call her Goldy Locks from now on.....she is a blonde! LOL! jackie harris

Actually I would be scared SH*TLess! Tell her to get the neighbor to stop feeding the birds! Brave boy Astro, but good thing he was in the house. OMG! Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a nice couple of rugs for the floor there.

My brother had (probably still does) a momma and two little babies hanging around,( he fed them) and they actually quite like him.

I was at his place  with my mom feeding his permanent resident bears for a week when he went to Russia, and this wild bear didn't know what to think of us.  She was weary and she always sent her cubs up a tree when she came looking for food, but the day Mike came home, she seemed so happy to see him.  Brought her cubs down out  and looked like she was greeting him.  It was very strange and amazing.

*BTW, when she came around, we ran in the house like scared rabbits and watched her through the window.  She'd come on our porch too, but always kept her kids up a tree,- until Mike came home.

He has done a  video on a wild mother bear and shows himself going near her cubs.  She puffed and stomped her feet but never attacked. He wasn't even afraid.

I'd be peeing my pants.

I keep asking him about these bears that attack, and he said they are like people, most are harmless, and a few are wacky.

A few minutes earlier, my daughter & her kids were walking back to the house from the school bus....I'm glad Astro was inside the house, too! There used to be a guy who fed the bears at the resort my husband worked for, he had fed them all his life, & he was an old man....however a botanist was just mauled to death not too far from where I live, while caring for the captive blacks bears they have in their sanctuary.....I had a cub try to climb in a screened window years ago, I wasn't taking pictures, either, I was scared! My 95 lb mix went & hid under the coffee table in our living room, & my little 8 lb cat stood outside the bedroom door where the cub was scratching at the screen, all fuzzed up & hissing....I finally got up the nerve to run in the bedroom, slam the window shut, & turn around & hide in the bathroom! The poor little thing must have been scared of me, too, 'cause he took off like a shot after that, but I was still nervous....no sleep that night! LOL! It seems silly now, but it was pretty un-nerving. No, I don't mess with bears, they can peel the door of your car right up like a sardine can lid!

Bob, my husband agrees with you, he's ready to go get a rug....Jen has a Hyundai Sonata that the momma walked right by, the momma was almost as long as the car, & fully as tall as the car on all fours! That's a really big bear!  jackie harris

This is our resident cougar (standing)  and her cub (laying down by the hoses and pretty much grown).  Our neighbor snapped this picture from his deck one morning.    We back up to National Forrest, this is part of her territory.   Of course she usually never comes this close.   This picture is a  couple of years old.
