I am wondering in your experiences how far along your female has been before you can actually palpate the pups? I know they are the size of walnuts at around 25-28 days but about how big are they at 42-45 days? Thanks!

Why would one want to palpate the pups?

I was hoping to verify pregnancy...

It's hard to wait and see I guess.
The term palpate kinda sounds like something else.
I generally just keep an eye on the dog's bodily changes and behavior.
Never would I X-ray or pay for an ultra sound, don't think I'd go squeezing around on her either.
A lot happens in the last three weeks, thats when it gets interesting.
Be patient, you don't have the power to change anything anyway.
Hope all goes well,
Moons.

Thanks for the advice moons. She is only slightly swollen in the belly but she seems to filling in around her nipples. Going from the last breeding she is 40 days today. She has been off her feed for a bit, which is not normal for her and seems to be agreeing with the tripe I have been adding to her food. My fingers and toes are crossed ;-)
