Mystere,
I agree, I think movies like the Slum dog Millionaire,
and some very good PBS shows are showing this struggling
Nation where life began, coming out of the dark ages so fast
it is beyond belief. The one thing I know about the Indies are
there sincere love for animals, and an almost astounding
ability in math. I wish them only good things.

Not to be prejudice or anything, but why on earth would you want to sell a dog to someone in India? I know not all homes would be bad, but have you ever seen the for sale ads of dogs from India on here? Not all of them look like they have the best places to live or look to be in the best condition.

This is the only reason for my post. PLAIN and SIMPLE.

We have a lot of trouble making people believe that we love and treasure and cherish  our dogs as just about anybody else. A lot of breeders abroad have a antipathy to selling dogs to India. But generalizing is bad.

The foreign media paints a very distorted picture of conditions in our country, that is the crux of the matter.  I would responded in a totally different sort of manner if I had perceived any of those comments as anything more than a doggy comment. Hell, like most Indian Americans I was rooting for Hillary Clinton as the Democrat candidate. I don't have a single cousin in my city they are all stateside with a couple in England. In my family they don't believe in an ordinary outsourcing company job or call center. All except one are leading doctors.

I spend all my free time interacting with people on all international websites. I have no persecution complex  or inferiority complex . I have other interests such as football(soccer to my American and Canadian friends).I spend all my time on American or European sites but pedigree database is my homepage.

To answer that starving children comment making fool, primary education along with a nutritious mid day meal is free to every child in my country.

I don't know why anyone would want to resurrect this trash, but let us be clear: the outsourcing to India is NOT "running " the country. It is merely customer [dis]Service for companies who choose to send American jobs oversees. Personally, I boycott such companies for prrcisely that reason. Now, Vivek, how about discussing DOGS???? I understand that you have Sieger Shows and everything in India. Certainly stateside a couple of your countrymen have excelled on the trial field.

Discussion on Dogs turn to rile, racism, and mudslinging..
Does that show a lot of  resentment residing within our hearts and minds, where healthy and hot topics dovetail into culture thrashing?
India has the man power, the climatic variations that no European country can ever make a claim  (we have the Himalayan frosts, to the salty sea tropics, to the Saharan-Thar deserts) to claim our stake, and this climatic diversity enables us to breed any animal in the world, fromGSDs to anything, without any exaggeration . We have our faults we admit, who doesnt have.

And about animal rights and human rights.. these idioms found way into the Western vocabulary only after the horrid bear fights and the holocaust, please remember your history before waxing eloquent on human and animal rights.

Much more later

the outsourcing to India is NOT "running " the country. It is merely customer [dis]Service for companies who choose to send American jobs oversees. Personally, I boycott such companies for prrcisely that reason

Mystere, running the country (USA) is an exaggeration but if you are boycotting companies that outsource, then you will run out of companies that you can do business with. Outsourcing takes many forms other than customer service.

Did you know that increasingly data processing is being done abroad - mainly India - with just a skeleton crew in the US to coordinate with their Indian counterparts?  Even that skeleton crew in the US that I referred to is sometimes outsourced because companies like Infosys who send the personnel to the US to work here on projects. I know this because there are wholesale lay-offs occurring at companies that are outsourcing literally anything that can be outsourced to the US.

It affects every facet of American life to one degree or the other. Check out legal outsourcing to India

www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/microsoft-outsource-general-legal-work-india

www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/10/AR2008051002355.html

And it goes beyond legal work:

www.news.cornell.edu/stories/July07/ILRKuruvilla.html

Manufacturing left the US over the past twenty years, customer service over the past decade and now it is affecting other types of jobs. But that is the price we pay for unbridled capitalism and being part of a global economy.

The cashiers at my local Costco are almost all Hispanics - excellent at what they do with thick accents. Ten years ago they were hardly any Hispanics who worked as cashiers. I am sure these are legal residents and since Costco pays well one has to wonder why these jobs don't go to "Americans".

So when you say that you will not do business with any company that outsources - well, you are out of luck because that ship has sailed!

You may be right.  However, I was raised NOT to patronize those who would disrespect, mistreat or abuse me.   I may not be able to boycott every aspect of life that has "something" outsourced, but I can intelligently reduce it as much as I can...and let the companies know it.

Consequently, NO stores who do not maintain a Customer Service department  that I can speak to face to face, should I care to, gets my little bit of business.  Nordstrom has a loyal customer, among other things, because their customer service is still in each store.     Macy's outsources, so they don't get a dime from me.  It isn't difficult:  if I can't get what I want at Nordstrom, what's the odds that Macy's has it, anyway?    I make the same balancing calculation with respect to brands of products whenever possible.

Can I avoid it entirely?   No.  Will it make a hill of beans in the long-run?  Certainly, not just one person.  But, I certainly feel better about my choices.   If a lot more people make themselves feel better about their purchasing choices the same way, it just might make a difference.

Don't buy any newspapers either, because they are outsourcing their graphic arts departments. I have a friend who lost his job at the Modesto Bee because of that.
