Well IMPO how you described the police dog...it should out like that. These dogs aren't trained well and the handlers...well not the best.(in the videos I posted) Maybe that is why the Sheriff was impressed by my dog outing when told and I didn't have to shout a million times for him to out or flank my dog to make him out. Just wondering the views of other people about these clips.

Personally, I think to much time spent on bite training and way to little time spent on control/obedience, I think this is apparent in the number of patrol/ detection dog bites on civilians, even children. Rewarding the dog with a bite on the fleeing or combatant bad guy is one thing, but to let the dog maul the person due to lack of compassion,or control is police brutality and should be treated as such.                                                                           Michael

It always cracks me up how people think schutzhund is "not realistic" and then expect a "real life" suspect to "hold still" when a dog is mauling them!  A police dog must be taught to release from a moving suspect.

One problem I see: all three handlers seem very tentative around their dogs.

No Curs there are only 2 LEOs in the clips. I believe they are certified...don't know who through but they are on the streets working.Wish I could have taped the tracking...it was not good let alone the drug finds...or lack there of. The dogs were NOT trained by trainers. The officers trained them. IMPO I think that they need help in training the dogs to their full potential.

This is a trailer for an upcoming Training DVD.Its focus is on the synergy of the SPEAR system combat science , EMCTTS K9 Handler/K9 Tandem combat/Tactics and the innovative approach to LEO K9 training with world class K9 trainer Bernhard Flinks

Trainees are taught :
  • Biting under severe distraction while working with Handler and other Officers safely
  • Biting upon initiation of sudden, aggressive movement, maintaining control when suspect is compliant
  • Attacking a non compliant, but passive assailant- e.g. hostage situations
  • Tandem Control, teaching Handler and K9 to fight suspect together in the case of a Close-quarter Ambush
  • Tandem Control restrain and control for the handler while dog is out and maintaining guard
  • Multiple Assailant Drill- Outing the dog and sending him to another assailant.
  • Proper SOP- Search, find, detain, guard while suspect is compliant and bite if necessary

Mike49,

Is there any similarity to saying, "stop trying to block my baton that I am
clubbing the shit out you with", to saying  "stop fighting my dog who is biting the shit out you"
and I  can't seem to out him ? Is this for self gratification, or empowerment?
I think most people are sick of bad guys hurting good people. The police
for what ever reason they chose a career where they see the seedy side of life everyday,
have a tough job to do. The truth perhaps lies in the middle. The police have my support
100%. But please get good dogs and good training to use those dogs.
