I just lost my girl at 14 1/2. Born May 1995 and Passed away 12/09. My male I just lost was 13 1/2 born 6/96 and passed away 2/10.

Those are very long lives for GSDs. Kudos to you for doing such a great job.
My boy will be 11 yrs old in Sept. He is my oldest.

My girl was 4 mos short of 14 yrs. pictured here at 2yrs old.She was a Caralon Phantom granddaughter..

My beautiful Shadow lived into his 13th year,
Interestingly, Caralon's Phantom and Caralon's Hein and Caralon's Segi, appear numerous times in the 6th throufh 8th generation.
I am just as proud of the good robust American part of his breeding as the East/West German portions.

Caralon's Phantom and Hein, are lines known for longevity. Does anyone know of any other lines that are known for longevity? It would be nice to know that the possiblity of longevity exsist in your dogs pedigree...My girl didn't even have much grizzling around her muzzle or on her body. I will try to find a pic of her when she was older, but most of them were lost, A story I hate to think about...Just make me furious....

My Riane von Arkadien passed away at 14 years and 7 months old. Riane was a VA-Zamb von der Wienerau-daughter and her maternal grandfather was VA-Uran vom Wildsteiger Land.
This photo was done just a couple of months before her death. She looked quite old and grizzly already but still lifted her leg when she had to pee (a very dominant female).
We miss our "ole bag o' bones".
As comparison, this is how she looked at age 10 and a half (with my daughter on our back patio):
