The despicable Kimberly Nizato has a hearing date of May 12, 2010. If you would like to write to the DA's office to ask for the maximum sentence for her for the abuse and neglect of Courage (please remember to be polite and professional in your words) Courage thanks you :-) District Attorney in Charge: Mr. Mario Trujillo 10025 E. Flower Street Suite 374 Bellflower, CA 90706 Fax: 562/920-3062

Should the same procedure be followed as was the case for Buddy?  If the DA gets swamped, they may throw the baby out with the bathwater.  Should a person be delegated to deliver the messages all at the same time to show the support in numbers so the message doesn't get lost?

Here's more about the case.  In particular it explains the airline carrier/yard discrepancy, and that Kimberly Nizato is out on bail until her hearing.

Thanks for that link Jackal. Your article also had a link to follow for the petition that has started, demanding a stiff sentence and not a slap on the wrist for the abuse Courage suffered.

Thanks for the link to the updated article.  It did clear up a few things.  They didn't want Courage to knock into or over any furniture or anything so they tied him up.  I guess shortly after that his owner made the brilliant discovery that if she simply stoppped feeding the dog she wouldn't have to worry about him and the furniture at all.  Gruesome.

Nizato is not a Vet Tech, by the way.  Licensed Vet Techs have college degrees and must pass state boards.  She had been working for the vet for about 6 months, cleaning cages.  She's kennel help, not a professional.

bump...go sign the petition.

More on Courage. He's put on 10 lbs (another article says 20, and I don't know which is correct)., and is standing!. (I know there are many other dogs who suffer like this, and more, every day. It's heartening, though, to see one *helped*, and hopefully recover.)

Edited to add: And here is another article. It looks like he's escaped his ordeal without organ damage.
