Sharing some videos of local northern IL police K9s on their last day of pre-training. They have gone through 10 weeks of training and on Monday April 19th 2010 they were all placed with their handlers/departments and will continue with an additional 8 weeks of training. 2 of the dogs were bred and raised by PDB member CRHuerta and one was bred by PDB member Kulladogs.

They are all a really great bunch of dogs. I got to work with Hanno (Buffalo Grove, he is on the PDB, Haweto Hanno) for the first six weeks, and Kestrel (Marengo) for the last two. It was loads of fun, and even though I was cursing how tired I was Friday I'm already excited to do it again. I learned so much and and it's so rewarding.
It's worth noting that Kestrel had only tracked a handful of times before this video, and was weeks behind the others in drugs. He caught up amazingly fast, and his nose is awesome!

Thanks Nan. And thanks Kelly, I didn't know the registered name for Hanno or Brix or else I would have added them. I believe Brix was bred by Mike Lichwalt(sp?) from Northern IL SchH Club but I don't know his pedigree. All of the breeders should be extremely proud of the dogs they produced. Not too bad... 4 of the 6 dogs were locally bred, only 2 imports (says something for our breeding programs in the states) and 3 of the 6 are showlines, proving that you really can have it all. Truly an awesome group of dogs! I learned something from each of them. And a wonderful group of people to work with. I can't wait for the next class to start pre-training but in the mean time I will enjoy watching them grow, learn and bond with their handlers. I am not ashamed to say that I am jealous of some of the handlers, there is more than one dog in this bunch that I would be proud to own, and one that I already did ;o)

Thank you Jody for the videos!...and thanks to you & Kelly, etc...for assisting with the training of (all) these very young, promising dogs.
I am very excited to meet the new Police K9 handlers/partners next week & observe some of the training myself!
Many thanks to Paula & Alex for the invite...
Ozzie & Marcus are very nice, sound young dogs....we are proud to be their breeder(s).
Sincerely,
Robin
