Just out of curiousity whom of your train with treats? What do you use to train just good ole fashion "Good Dog" praise, Treats, Toys What? What is your opionion on Training with treats?

Personally, it depends on the dog as to what I use.  No on thing will works for every exercise. That is great about all the tools we have today vs in the past. I use treats, praise, toys, tug, ball, even a cat (when I need nice stack shots my daughter will stand holding her cat -does the trick all the time, If I could only do that in the show ring LOL)

Find what works for the dog and go from there.

"... praise, Treats, Toys What?"

All of the above, depending on the circumstances and what works best to motivate the dog.  I also use what are called "life rewards", that are rewarding to the dog but not obvious rewards to us.  For example, sitting politely at the door is required before the door opens.  If the dog waits patiently and quietly for another dog to approach *then* he's allowed to greet the dog (assuming the other dog is friendly and the owner is willing).  That sort of "intuitive reward" can be as strong if not a stronger reward than the conventional "treats/toys/praise" and the dog never gets full or bored because he's working for something he really wants at that point in time.

I use every tool available.  Treats, toys, praise, corrections.  What I'm giving at any one time depends on what I'm asking and how much he's understanding.  If it's something as simple as "sit", a marker work and praise will do, but he'll still get a treat periodically.  If it's something he's just learning, and does it right, I'll give him a treat every time until he "knows" it.  Then I wean away from treats to praise.  If it's something he knows but is not thrilled doing, I'll use a toy to entice him and a treat as reward.  Same with correction...the amount of correction depends on his understanding of what it is I'm asking.  The more he "knows" and disobeys, the harder the correction.

I say, find what motivates your dog, and use it. It could be different things for different types of training. Get to know your dog and use what works. As for clicker training, I'm notinto that but, if you think it works, than go for it. BTY, why would anyone crucify you for your opinion? We are all entitled to one. We don't all have to agree.  Have fun and enjoy your dog and training.
Let us know how it goes for you...Pics would be nice....

I also have a very food motivated dog, I also use her ball. I have a cue word   Yes       then give a treat or the ball depending on what we are doing. After I know she understands what I want her to do and I know she will complete a task consistently then if she does not do it on command I will correct.
Always,

I use everything that everyone else has mentioned but also use a marker (clicker) for some exercises.  If you think it's a joke, you don't understand how or why they're used.  Things happen fast in training and a clicker is simply a way for you to instantaneously 'mark' a behavior when it happens.
