18 month girl killed by Dog - Page 1

Look, another dog attack, This one by a mastiff:

Heartbreakingly sad.  Mother and grandmother in the kitchen apparently with her when it happened.  I can't even imagine. 


"An uncle of an 18-month-old girl who was attacked and killed by a dog in Crawley, West Sussex, is being held on suspicion of manslaughter."


Looks as though they might come down hard on the uncle who owns the dog, even though he was not there. 

The mother and children must be living with the grandmother and uncle, at least that is how it sounds. 
Obviously people have still not clued into the fact that you cannot trust any dog, no matter how docile it seems around little children.

These mastiffs & pit bulls & these types of dogs serve no function in modern soceity. They are a danger to children, even pets. So what is the point of them. As far as he is concerned the following breeds should be banned in England & if a person is seen with the following breeds, he should be fined & if the dog fails to pass a tempermanent test he should be put down.

This is not the dogs fault nor the breed of the animal. imo  thats a crazy thing to say and beleive.

Zin: You see, the problem is he hates dogs, so when a dog is in the news like this, this is what he says. I do no agree with him 10% but i also do not totally disagree with him.

The fault lies with the "humans" that are around, own or have contact with the dogs.
MOST animals have the ability to cause harm to people.......it is our responsibilty to prevent things from happening....not the animals.

First let me say this. I do not care for Pitbulls or any mastiff type dog. I would not have one by choice even so I have rescued some.

I have suffered through all the videos presented here by MickyD above. All 6 of them.
Here are my points
1. Prey kill instinct,  chasing reflex ,...  is hard wired into all animals even mice, cow and horses as it is proven by EBS. (Electric brain stimulation) 
What the animal is going to use it for is a matter of learning.   Thus if you train dog that children are not an hunting object in the time period of 4-12 weeks of age(of the dog) then the children are safe if they behave reasonably around such dog. This had been proven by millions of pitbulls and milions up on milions of all dogs. If this would not be the truth then we would have blood shed of amazing proportions.
2. Dog on dog aggression has nothing to do with dog on person aggression.

These two points are important to understand . Pitbull fighting no matter how despicable has nothing to do with such dogs being aggressive towards people. It is a matter of  targeting the instincts of the dogs on what ever you want to target it in training and socialization. Many fighting pittbulls were safely adopted.
3. If British (and others) would not ban all weapons for self defense then people would not have to look for other means to defend themselves. Like dogs. To have properly trained dog and maintain such dog's training and be able to properly handle such  is much more difficult then use of other weapons for self defense. Here is a proof that you can not make society safer by banning "tools" used for defense. What needs to be controlled is an improper behavior.  And there should be time spend on educational training videos and awarness of what makes dog tik rather then spend it  on BBC's imbecilic video like this. Now they are going to ban Pit bulls, Rotts, GSDs, ....... This is so wrong. And does no good, as it is obvious to all sane people.

Prager, Robin: My dad said this. I have told him that the breeds are not entirely to blame & the people who use them for this kind of thing are also definetely to blame. I also told him that maybe the comment about "no function in society" was a bit harsh.
He has said that he agrees that people are also definetely to blame as well & also his comment was a bit harsh, but he still thinks that these types of dogs should be banned & people who encourage this behaviour & participate in it should be arrested instead of having to pay a fine. And i agree with that.

Why did no one comment on the tragic death of this little girl (while the other threads are booming on mistreated dogs) until Hamza repeated what his dad said?  Why  is that, do you think?
