4pack

OK so I know this ditzy blonde that let her GSD loose with her Fox Terriers, knowing the big dog can be thrown into a frenzy like prey drive. Well the dog attacked her little dog and she got bit in the process. Now she wants to have the GSD put to sleep. He's not in the least agressive towards people, she has had him for over 2 yrs and can't handle him.

He's a beautiful black, big boned, neutered, GSD, with the slight bleeding through on the feet and toes, looks like a bi-color. I'm trying to find him a real dog person that can handle him. I'd take him in a heartbeat if I wasn't about to have a baby. I'll try to get some pics of him for anyone interested. I checked him out when she got him from the breeder, he's fine with people, not weird, super energy, needs a job. He paces in his kennel constantly but current owners idea of excersize is him lose in her yard.

Breeder had him loose on their property and he had killed cats and chickens, the reason they got rid of him for free. Not sure why Ditzy Blonde didn't put 2+2 together with the small dog thing? 2+ yrs she has had this dog, before he hurt her smaller dog but he is a nutcase dog now and needs to be PUT DOWN. (shakes head) I have 10 days to find him a home.

Please post any questions for me here and I will get back with answers when I can. Today is training and I am going to see what my TD and members think while I am there. I will be taking the dog when his 10 days are up and having him temperament tested and evaluated for bitework to see if he has any potential for a sport dog.

So far my honest opinion is the dog is NORMAL and his only problem is dipshit handling by well meaning but stupid "pet" people. I convinced his owner to keep him at home for the 10day quarentine. If he went to the pound, it would be a death sentence since he bit his owner, they will not adopt out a "known biter" even if some idiot stuck their hand in the middle of a dog fight. Funny thing about her wounds, most of the bites look like the Fox Terrier chewed on her hand. Only 1 puncture hole big enough for a GSD tooth.

Are you sure it's a ditzy blond and not a graying middle aged man?  Sounds like my X2B!

Thanks you guys. I think he will be fine in a home that just keeps him away from other animals when off leash. I will get back over there in the next day or 2 and see what pics I can get and walk him around some, see how sharp his OB is and check ball/food drives.

By the way, we are in the Nor Cal Area/ Sac Valley.

"Breeder had him loose on their property and he had killed cats and chickens, the reason they got rid of him for free." Sounds like the "breeder" (I can't help but use the term loosely) was more ditzy than the ignorant owner! What kind of good breeder would give a dog like that to a novice? Anyway, thank you so much for trying to help. Our two present dogs (one GSD and one Shiloh Shepherd) are rescues I am so thankful for people like you who really care about the dogs and try to help and make a difference.

Well I'm sure it was easier on their conscience, than puting him down or heaven forbid keeping him kenneled at their own place. I see people all of the time, willing to pass on their headaches to someone else. As long as the dog was out of their hair, I doubt they cared if she ran him over the next day.

OK so I finally got over to see this guy and play with him a bit. He hurt his leg. Apparently his foot was caught in the hotwire, no wonder he went nuts and nailed whoever was near him at the time. He let us look at and handle his leg. Never a single growl or dominant move. It's not his paw but above the right front elbow, it's warm to the touch, appears spained/pulled. He's not overly friendly but walked right up to sniff me and check me out, never jumped up or ran into me. I fed him some hot dog pieces and he has a sit, no down, seems easy to handle/work with. He has tons of toy drive, food drive was pretty good too. He let me look at his teeth and in his mouth (easier than my own dogs).

I saw how he paces in his kennel, I was a bit worried he may be high maintanance but once out of his kennel, he relaxes and settles right down in the yard. He is used to being housed in a kennel when no one is home, in the yard durring the day and in the house at night. He has not been allowed inside since the "incident", so he has been off his food some, not knowing why he has been booted from moms affection.

Here are what pics I could get of him today. I didn't mess with him too much since his leg was obviously a bit sore.
