The news reports (yeah, for what they are worth) are that the majority of the population is south of the volcano and having no ill-effects, as the wind is blowing the other way---toward Europe.

Once again, Mother Earth is telling us just how small we really are!!  Earthquakes (HOW MANY this year alone???), volcanic eruptions (PLEASE leave Mt. St Helens and Mt Rainier dormant!!), tsunamis, what next?      Forget jihads--Mother Earth is kicking our butts.

Iceland thrives on geo-thermal and I'm sure they are prepared for events such as this.

Yes it does seem like a lot of activity around the globe lately.

Ya never know.

The neurosurgeon that operated 3 times on hubs neck and back was from Iceland.

"However, experts fear the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull, which has sent this cloud of ash into the sky, could trigger a much larger explosion of nearby Mount Katla.

Katla is described as ‘enormously powerful’, and because it lies under a glacier
its eruption would cause a huge glacial outburst flood and could spread its shadow over a much larger area.

Let's hope that the worse is over.
