During my time reading and posting here I have made the observation that there are 3 types of posters
First and most valuable are:
THE TEACHERS - clearly defined by frequent well written, thoughtful and informative posts. The teachers also typically have a public history of accomplishment and success in the "real world" not just the virtual one of the web
Next group is:
THE LEARNERS - posts from this type are often open ended questions, with follow up and intelligent dialogue. This group also includes the "hey check out my new dog" we start puppy class on Monday type people who are here because of a genuine desire to learn more about our beloved breed
And finally and most dismal of them all
THE TROUBLE MAKERS - Consistently negative, slanderous and deliberately hurtful typically hidden behind pseudonyms with only the courage to make the attacks on others through the anonymity of the internet. Often go from topic to topic with no real intelligent contribution just looking for another opportunity to pick a fight or fuel the fire of an on going and often unrelated dispute.
This is somewhat of a generalization and there could be some "subcatagories" but I think this just about covers most. Of course there is some gray area between and I think for some people is possible to fall in to 2 or even all the categories at once. And I'd be lying if I wrote that I never followed on the trouble maker topics if only for pure "reality TV" like entertainment but if we could ask the DOGS whose posts they wanted us to read (well Eriel would tell me to get the hell off the computer and throw a ball for her..... but I digress) We need THE TEACHERS & THE LEARNERS so I know its easy to get fed up with the board but I do believe in the value of this online community. So now I'll step off my soap box and run my dogs. TTYL

Don't forget # 4: THE FAKERS. There are quite a few who post with authority on almost every subject. Show lines, working, AKC, Sch training and have participated in none of these nor any notable accomplishments in any serious GSD endeavor.
They have gained their "vast" keyboard knowledge from the excellent advice and experience that the teachers so freely share. Eventualy, these type posters become so knowledgable that they will often enter into arguments with those you call teachers. All this without ever taking a GSD from the back yard.
just saying,
Rik

Rik, you are so right, spot on. Although I believe the list is never ending to be truthful.
