GSDguy08

by GSDguy08 on 09 April 2010 - 01:04

So Anubis is right at 15 months now.  Looking better and better to me, slowly maturing out.  Here are a few pictures from the other day.  Just goofing around, and one attempt at a stack.  Don't mind the fur missing on one of his legs, he had blood drawn at the vet.  Anyway, what do you think?

This was one taken towards night obviously.

My attempt at a stack.....I know, it's probably not that good.  He's definitely going to look a lot like his dad.

Also to mention guys, we've been working more out in public.  He does great, pretty much anywhere.  He does have a degree of suspicion about certain people, but I have not once had a reaction like at the vet. Suspicion is in his lines after all.  I'm still convinced it all goes back to that one room.  He has been social among some....couldn't care less about other people, but he has been 100% stable for me around every person we have been around.  He is very partial to children though, they could hug on him all day, or do whatever and he just loves them.  He also watches and follows my nieces around if they go "too far".....too far in his eyes, from our house.  We're going to continue our protection training, and I will keep working him out in the general busy public.  I see no issues with him other than that one instance.

Nice pics...Anubis is looking quite handsome!! Not a bad stack shot either.Just needs the back leg to be forward a little so the hock is parallel to the ground, like Dar's back leg in this picture.

It is nice to see someone that can at least have their dog stand and stack without being on leash.NICE JOB!!! Can't wait to see Anubis filled out and mature.

Waleed.....feed him a bit more?  He has had trouble gaining weight, before, but has been eating like a pig lately.  He has gained a few lbs since the last pictures I posted of him.  So do not tell me to feed my dog a little more, he is the only one of mine who was too skinny.  Also remember German Shepherds are to be LEAN, not fat.  You want to see the outline of the back two ribs which is considered way too skinny by a lot of people who do not work dogs.  Also remember his age, 15 months, he is still growing and maturing slowly.  He has a fast metabolism, and he is a very active dog.

He is an appropriate weight given these photos. At his age, he certainly should be lean and as he matures, he will put on more muscle mass.

Nice looking fellow GSDguy. Good luck with him.

GSDguy
Your dog is at a good weight, especially for his age! I think you know that though. ;-)
My male went through that stage forever and every time my co workers saw him they would comment on him being "too thin"... At almost 3 years he is just filling out and looking more masculine..
Fine looking pup and he sounnds likehe has a very nice disposition... Best Wishes with him

He most definitily is at the right weight. He is very nicely proportioned for his age and in a few years with fill out and mature. My guess is he is going to be even more impressive then. You don't want him to grow too fast or be on too much protine as with mose GSDs I have known that are on puppy food till they are a year end up getting pano. That is why I have never fed a puppy food. None of my pups have ever had a problem and maintained a good weight.
Anubis has a nice front end with some great muscel tone. Keep the pictures of him coming GSDguy.
