AKC foreign registration - how long?

How long does the AKC take to process a dog with foreign papers?

I sent my in a few weeks ago, and am still waiting. Our club has a trial coming up in on the 24th and I still don't have a score book. Of course I forgot to make copies of the origional pedigrees, so I'm up the creek!

On the ones I have done it was about 4 weeks no more than 6.

Mine have taken 2-3 weeks. Never send in original pink papers as AKC will take a copy.

Ok Im curious here,
I have a male shepherd with pink papers registered to the man who sold him to me. How do I go about getting him into my name?

I followed the instructions to the letter ......... http://www.akc.org/pdfs/foreign.pdf

The following items must accompany the completed, signed application:

Certificate of Registration. Attach a clear, legible photocopy of the original unrestricted (not a Limited Breeding) Certificate of Registration indicating the dog’s registry and owner of record. Do not send the original certificate. The AKC application and the foreign registration must reflect identical ownership.

Pedigree. Attach the original complete foreign three-generation Certified Pedigree from the registry in the dog’s country of birth (Export Pedigree). Acceptable registries are listed in Section IV of the Special Registry Services pamphlet available on our Web site: www.akc.org. Original pedigrees will be returned.
For Canada, Bermuda and Mexico: See additional instructions below.

Bescheinigung. Attach a German certificate of transfer in letter form, if applicable.

Photographs required for all dogs. Attach two (2) 3” x 5” close-up color photographs of the dog in a standing position: one front view; one side view. Print the dog’s name and registration number on the back of each photograph.

No clue why it was changed but NEVER SEND ORIGINALS. Just send color copies AKC will be happy.

Did you do the DNA?

The dog can be registered w/out DNA. A LITTER, if bred overseas, will have to wait for DNA results to be registered. But just the dog should only take a month.....though I just waited several months for one. I know it says they want originals, but I simply don't trust them that much. I made copies on a fax machine and didn't hear a peep about it.

DO NOT send the originals, send a copy.  Years ago when you had to send the originals, mine came back torn.  It has since changed and you are allowed to send a copy.  You'll be lucky if you get it back in time, @4 weeks is usually the norm.
What they forget to mention is most dogs from Europe have the pedigree as part of their registration.  Here it's different.

Certificate of Registration. Attach a clear, legible photocopy of the original unrestricted (not a Limited Breeding) Certificate of Registration indicating the dog’s registry and owner of record. Do not send the original certificate. The AKC application and the foreign registration must reflect identical ownership
