Wondering if some of you knew some good places to purchase used dog boxes for trucks and or a trialer.

4-6 dogs. Need compartments to fit shepherds and or mali's.

Most of the boxes I see are for smaller hunting dogs. You can often find uses boxes, and even trailers, on Craigslist, or community classified papers, such as "Little Nickel." I would also suggest just putting your interest "out there," as you have here, on dog-related email lists. Good Luck!

Hodie had one a few weeks back...maybe she still does?

I build my own. I never see any that are advertised that are large enough for a GSD to be comfortable in for any length of time. I built mine out of wood although I could go ahead and cover it with aluminum or whatever and really make it nice. IT doesnt take much skill to build a dog box. Metal boxes and trailers are nice but I still prefer wood. When I haul a 90lb GSD clear across the country I need to know that they arent going to be cramped or too hot or cold.

what is the smallest hole you would want to transport a GSD in?

Yeah thats the problem im running into. anything over a 2 dog box isnt large enough. Everything is for the retrievers and gun dogs.

Thought maybe someone might know a builder or have an in with someone or something.

Hodie had her's custom made I think she said.  Kustom Krates does very nice work.  Jones Trailers does custom I think.

I got a good cargo trailer, added top vent and windows, and a side awning.   Comfortable with 6 extra large metal dog crates (stacked two high) with lots of room for extra stuff.  Current set-up is with three extra large metal dog crates, a scooter, a portable 4-burner cookstove, and lots of other extra stuff.  Easily adjustable to different configurations and number of dogs.  Tows nicely behind my truck and camper.

Try the coonhound sites. Walker hounds and redbones, etc, are comparable in size to a well bred, standard shepherd. The shepherd is a "medium" breed, not a giant breed, and Walkers are pretty good sized dogs.

One word of advice; if you have destructive, hyper type dogs who get worked up watching bitework, etc, don't ever try the aluminum boxes - go with diamond plate.
