Ivan died peacefully in the night. He was getting older, but had shown no recent illness or signs alerting me to him not feeling well. He was a healthy dog in general. He was out yesterday many times with the gang and was just fine. Always a good eater, he had his dinner last night and was fine when he and the gang went out for the last time about 10 pm. I sleep right next to the kennel and his kennel is closest to my room so I  can hear any crying or barking in the kennel and there was none. Neither is there any sign of trouble in his kennel this morning. He looked just like he was soundly asleep when I went to take him out this morning with the gang. I suspect he might have had an undiagnosed hemangiosarcoma that ruptured, but I will never know. Whatever happened, there is no sign he suffered and for that I am grateful.

ivan was a fine dog and was long ago ready for his SchH title. Unfortunately, he hurt himself jumping and we could never diagnose what was injured or effect any kind of treatment that healed what was preventing him from jumping. Despite repeated long rests, over months at a time, he was never able to jump again and so he just lived the good life. He was shown many times and was SG rated (the highest rating without a SchH title) and would have surely earned a "V" rating had he gotten his title. I am confident he could have easily achieved SchH3 had he not been injured. He had a wonderful temperament, loved people and loved to work. He was one of my favorite dogs and I shall miss him.

Sleep well dear Ivan and thank you for teaching me so much and for allowing me to love you.
