Federal prosecutors struck a plea deal with Steven Romero, the POS who dragged GSD mix Buddy to death. No word yet on the sentence. Romero will plead guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals.

Here's the story:

Here's more on the story of poor Buddy, the dog who was dragged to death behind a pickup truck. His owner is now speaking to the press. Buddy was a wonderful family dog.

Here's the story:

I hope Romero gets the maximum sentence. Poor Buddy's paws were bloody when his body was found and he strangled to death from the rope around his neck as he was dragged behind the pickup. The evidence for Romero's guilt is overwhelming: video of his truck and tires tracks and paw prints, later body prints in fresh snow. Only the maximum sentence (and it's not enough) will send a message to people that it is wrong to kill dogs like this. This was deliberate, intentional cruelty done with the intent of causing the maximum suffering. I add this because some of you weren't here when this happened and don't know the circumstances of Buddy's death. He was a beloved family pet who was stolen from the back of a truck and later killed deliberately by an evil man at the urging of the evil man's evil sister.

Also see this link for the petition:

The petition was delivered to the prosecutor a few months ago. Michelle Heldmeyer knows that people all over the world signed the petition and other emailed or wrote snail mail letters to her about this outrageous crime.

Funny that he's now accepting a plea, when before, he couldn't understand he'd even done anything wrong.  That''s the first time I've heard anything about the family.  Very sad that his life started out with abuse and ended so tragically.  Glad to know he at least had a decent life for a couple of years, he was loved.

Poor poor Buddy.  Hell doesn't have a bad enough punishment for this POS and his POS sister.  To think what this dog went thru just rips me apart.  If you haven't signed the petition yet please do.  I hope it gets the job done and the judge slaps the max on him.  It won't be enough but I sure hope it is something to bring justice to Buddy.

He will sadly, end up with a slap on the wrist. Hopefully in prison other inmates will exact some justice for poor Buddy.

If I read the articles correctly, the creep's sister was the one who stole both the dogs (Buddy and the Labrador) from the back of the pickup truck.  Personally I hope she gets to be very familiar with a prison cell.  I also think Hodie is right and the guy who dragged the dog will get nothing but a smack on the wrist.  I wonder if the Labrador has been returned?

The article said that "they got Max [the Labrador mix] back" but didn't give any details.

The sister who stole the dogs has plead not guilty.

You would be surprised by what "codes" some of the prison guys have.   Commit rape,(unless it is someone's child or grandma) and it's a 'little" felony.   Hurt children and dogs and ....they have it in for you.   Not as automatic for dogs, of course, but still the "code" is not in Romero's favor.   There is justice in the Cosmos!

They both need to rot in jail.  The sister took the dogs and Buddy either chased or killed her cat.  That's why she told her brother to take him somewhere and get rid of him.  When Romero was arrested, they found the other dog and yes, it went back to the owners.
