Red Leg

by Red Leg on 26 March 2010 - 19:03

so Jake is my second dog, my first was Charlie a yellow lab.  Charlie was fixed @ 6months....Jake is now 9 months and he's just as god made him with all of his bits and pieces.  Lately ive noticed white drops coming from his you know what. now i assume its drippin some man juices....Is this something thats normal with intact males? the wife isnt diggin all this "stuff" on her floors and thinks its pretty gross.  she's been wanting to get him "fixed" but some things ive read is to leave him be til he's around 2 years old.  i'm hoping that this is a puberty thing and will pass.

I've never had a male that "dripped" but I guess it's possible.  How long has it been going on?  Is there a possiblility he's got an infection?  Do you know of any females in heat in your area?  Not something I've had happen and I've had intact males since childhood.  But, every dog is different.

GSDtravels is correct. The question is whether he has an infection. Often males will have a drop of matter, yellowish/white on the tip of their penis, but if this dog is constantly dripping, something is wrong. I would suggest a visit to your vet would be in order.

It is a natural thing. Some males drip more then others some keep it clean down there.(hence why males lick it there...no it isn't cause they can lol) When I worked at the vet clinic my boss(the head vet) called it smegma(sp?) If it is green....there might be an infection....if it is just white I wouldn't worry. Just one of the sick things about males.lol

Wow. Are you serious? Maybe you should not get anymore male dogs. As far as I'm concerned, it's all a normal part of being male and if your wife is sensitive about such bodily fluids, she either doesn't have enough to do or has some kind of cleanliness obsession.

Clean up after your dog or get him a male diaper or get her some therapy - I don't know. Neutering may get rid of the sperm but not the other fluids that come with it. God, it's like people haven't experiened life and its normal grossness!

Smegma is actually a secretion form the skin on the genitals and would be more of a "cheesy" texture, shouldn't drip.

An infection is a thicker consistancy and the area will be red/irritated with a foul smell.

Your dog sound normal to me.  I had one dog that had alot of discharge, and one not so much.  Most of the time, they clean themselves up,,, sometimes it hits the carpet.  Just one of the joys of having an unneutered male in the house.

WHATS THE PROBLEM?  ME AND DINK BOTH HAVE ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISCHARGES DRIPPING FROM OUR TALLYWHACKERS.  ITS A SIGN OF FERTILITY AND SEXINESS.

by Badpuppy on 26 March 2010 - 20:03

Hey Ronnie.. Does it have a foul smell? or does it smell like cheese?  if so you and Dink may want to see a vet.
Be sure to ask for a prostate exam.
