not a recent picture.
For fear of a destroyed kennel I have kept her separated from my male in the house trading them back and forth when she needs some time outside.
My kennels are nice but not strong enough to stop a determined dog, I've found this out the hard way.
I feel so sorry for Indy, he stands at the door looking in the glass hoping for just a glimpse of this forbidden fruit, last night he tore the screen from a living room window trying to look in.
At three A.M. he began to howl a mournful howl and sounded like he was truly in pain.
I told the wife I wish I could find him a dogie prostitute so he could get layed and I could get some sleep.
To make matters worst Isabelle is a shameless tease and barks at him from inside the house.
Who else has a problem keeping males and females apart during these hot times?
And there is the obvious mess to consider when keeping the bitch in the house, how do you deal with that?
There must be a funny story out there somewhere. Or some good advice.

Isabelle is a stunning girl. If I were your male, I would do the same to get that forbidden fruit also.

clearance and locate out of town not around young children. And
your male dog will still be crazy until your female is out of her heat cycle.

Rugs placed in strategic spots like at the foot of my bed where she likes to sleep.
Worst time for her to shed also.
I've seen Indy get so worked up when Maddy was in heat he did the air guitar in the yard sorta thing, not to be too graphic..lol
Still that howl..........................I don't know if it really hurts that much or not.
Today it's just a barking at the door, and running around the yard retracing her steps from her morning outing.
Moons.
P.S.
Not that it was as funny as it was strange to see, but I knew someone once who would tape sanitary napkins on their poodle.
I guess today someone makes a product specifically for dogs.

As we just moved into our home a year ago, we are still updating the inside and have not been able to fence and kennel outside as of yet. So both my girl and boy are inside dogs.
I have thier inside kennels in the basement. I platoon them when Jackie is in heat. Capone is in the kennel and she is in the house with Britches on. It allows for 3 barriers of protection. Kennel, and 2 doors. I agree with you that I don't trust them in kennels next to each other. Normally she sleeps with my daughter at night and he is in my room. But during cycle she goes to the basement during nights. It allows her to have britches off and keeps him from howling. I know she is coming into heat before she spots just by her damn teasing... she flags and rubs her A$$ up against him. I use the denim doggie diaper from petsmart with super absorbant pads from the womens asile. (Good thing I am married)
I learned the hard way a year ago as we just moved in and Capone was outside with me and my dad when either kid or parent opened the door and Capone made a sprint inside. Less than 15 seconds he had a tie with her britches on!!! Talk about frustration or motivation... depends on how you look at it. ;-)

PS Good looking girl what is the pedigree?

That's a great photo.
It's hard being a bitch in season around here, as they aren't allowed to run around the house at that time. If the weather is good, she splits her time between kennel and yard by day. At night she's brought in and crated. If the weather is bad, she's crated until she can go outside again. All until she's done with the discharge.
I have a friend who boarded her bitch every time she was in season and wasn't to be bred. Gets expensive, though.
Males can be a whining pain when duty is calling and they aren't allowed to go perform. I could only suggest what I would do if he were acting out like that here. I would put a lead on him and make him lay down next to me by my desk or wherever I wanted him to be.
Does he like to chew on bones or chew toys? Maybe he could care less about that right now, though. lol To me, it's still an obedience exercise to behave (for both of them). With some males I've had, they were hard to distract.

I knew there had to be products on the market but I've never looked at them or tried any.
Somehow visions of my back seat and a drive-in come to mind...!!

They never did offer to pay for the window either.

- That is a beautiful picture Moons.

Funny, pipe cleaner! LOL
Ah, that complicates things. I don't have a neighborhood dog problem. I have had failures in keeping both sexes outside in kennels and separated by fencing before. One of my males lifted the gate off of the hinges in the yard he was in, scaled the kennel and bred his beloved. Not my choice in breedings and it was only once...but resulted in 13 puppies.
Then I guess you have to go the britches route when she's inside and take them off when she goes out. A pain, but thankfully it's only about twice a year.;-)
I don't know how well the products work. I think some people like using Checkmate to prevent cycling, but I've heard of some bad outcomes and won't try it.
