DuvalGSD

So my male GSD finally got his boys clipped. He stayed in my truck for 3.5 hours and did not want to leave my truck at all. I can see where they muzzled him and his was all puffy and eyes sunk in.. I guess in time he will get back to him ol self and will but for now its a E-COLLAR and some good old rest and lots of luv..................

Poor baby.  Sometimes I wonder what they think about waking up all groggy and feeling like something is missing.  Having woken up from anesthesia badly myself, I always wish I could explain it to my dogs.

Why the e-collar?   Just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of your sentence....

My Dugan was nuetered on Thursday.  So, I know what you are going thu.
Remember, they may not have muzzled him.  To keep the gas/oxygen tube down his throat they have to tie a nylon looking rope around his upper muzzle.  This gives the appearance as if he was muzzled.  Dugan came home with what looked like he was muzzled.
Anyway, your boy will think nothing of it.  Get some rest boy, you'll feel better soon.  Dugan sends pats.

Older dogs, just like older humans, take what are essentially minor surgeries worse than younger dogs and humans. Just let your dog rest and hopefully the swelling will be minimized and he will remain relatively quiet. In a few days he will be just fine.

When I had my first GSD neutered at five years old, he was fine.  He walked rather gingerly that first day, but the next day, he was himself.  He didn't seem to have any ill effects from the surgery at all, and I don't recall him having any swelling at all around the muzzle.  I guess he fared pretty well.
