My 15 week old gsd's ears are not coming up, I've never personally had this problem with any of my other dogs. He is 15 weeks, and kinda on the large size, big boned, and about 45 lbs. My other two were not near as big as him at that age, they don't have big bones, and they are american blood line. Their ears come up before they were 12 weeks old. Tagan, my puppy, has one ear that is trying really hard to come up, but the other one is not doing much of anything. He does come from german blood line, all of his grandparents were imports, I got to see all of them and they all had good ears. I was curious if I should do anything, or just give it more time. I was also curious, if the problem is his size and blood line, and mabe the larger bone stuctured GSD'S mabe take a little longer, heavier ears or something? Any body else have a opinon.

I think it just depends on the lines in general, American or German, but also it seems like the larger heavier boned pups sometimes have ears slower to come up. At this age I wouldn't do taping yet. Try giving some nice real bone for him to grind and chew on and see if that helps. Give it a few weeks and see if it helps any.

How would you know if the older dogs had to have their ears taped and whatever is done to make them stand?
Maybe your dog comes by his floppy ear naturally.

For heavens sake he is only 15 weeks old, give the boy a chance. Wait until he is over with his teething and if they are not up then do something to help.
