Good Luck with Her. You can teach her a lot in your back Yard like Sit and Down if you put a pie ce of Mat in one place sit the Dog then say Down, Platz or whatever word you will use do it two or three times daily always on the Mat,
She will recognize the Mat to laying down. after a time the word alone will be enough without the Mat, but the Mat to start with is a marker for the Down,
This is how i taught Izzy to Down, Now in a very short time she learned to Down anywhere. my command is Platz, Last night at the training Club i downed her twice 5 minutes each time with another Dog working on the field she was tied on a line to the fence i stood 4 yards away from her, Periodically i walked up and gave her a Sweet and said good girl, then walked away back to where i was standing in two weeks she will be doing the full lengh Down time of around 10 minutes, then we have to of course do it off the line but it will come on okay

OREO is 3 years old and I talked to the trainer for the personnal protection class, he told me before he takes her she has to go threw the obedience class or two...She 65 lbs and medium boned so all the info he was saying she kinda knows..I have not worked with her laying down and staying in one place for a long period of time, but i can point to the ground and she will lay. She know how to sit and she always sits to the left of me on a leach, but she gets super excited around other dogs are first then she clams down.. But that her only issue is she start crying loud and barking.
Standing?
Is that when the dog stands on her hind legs and her front paws are on my chest or by its self with nothing holding her up?

O YA another ? i had for him if my male could go threw the protective training "just to see what he would say" I advise him of the athriitis in his elbow and he would not touch him for that kinda of training.. That made me happy to hear that. I can take him for the 3 levels of obedience classes but thats as far as he can go!!!!

Duval, if you mean standing as in obedience, that would be dog on all four feet, staying in one place, but remaining on its feet. If you could taker her to stand on her hind legs and stay like that, you would be doing well, but for purposes of obedience, she will be on all fours.
