Was curious as to what you do with an older puppy for carb's when you feed raw ?? And I thought I read not to feed carb's and meat at the same time. I s that correct? One in AM the other in PM.?? Thanks in advance Nan

I think you are confusing the comments some people have made.
Some people feed kibble in the am and raw food in the pm.
Dogs do not produce amylase and that is what digests starch and carbs. The starch and carbs in kibble are blasted to the point where they are digestible nothing to break down. That's why they call them digestible and that is true. In order to make a kibble, there has to be a starch to form the kibble shapes.
I feed my dog TOTW Wetlands formula soaked in water about three times a week with two or three raw chicken drumsticks or a raw chicken quarter on top. I think you will run into problems if you mix dry kibble with a piece of raw chicken.
The rest of the week, I give him chicken parts with either two 1/2 pound patties of Stella and Chewey's raw defrosted patties or a defrosted 1 pound chubb of GreenTripe.com excaliber formula which is a complete formula.
I am not a nutritionist nor a GURU of raw feeding.
I am constantly monitoring Pharaoh's well being and periodically switch things around. It is not a religion. It is just food.
Bon Apetite!
Michele

My dogs never get carbs unless they steal them or eat windfall fruit.
PS. I WAS mixing oats into a puppy blend, but John Riboni told me to knock it off, so I did. The pups turned out great.
