This is probably a really big newbie question, but how do you start teaching a dog to stack?  Our new pup kind of "strikes the pose" naturally, but I'd like to learn how to teach her to do it on command.  Any advice is much appreciated!

If you search the Messageboard you will find other posts like yours, some with very good advice. Here is but one such link to a thread on stacking:

Many dogs who have proper conformation will stack themselves naturally when given the chance. Good luck.

Are you talking about having your dog stand and stay in a stacked position....or from a walk into a stack? I raised a showline GSD and taught him to gait on command(at different speads) and stack with little or no help from the handler. I first taught him to stand stay.(short periods of time and then increasing) Then I would stack him and have him stay (starting short periods of time and then increasing) Then from walking stand and stack him....later he got the hint that he was to stop and stand in that position. My working line does it as well. Here is a pic of him.Back leg could be set better.
