Avacados? Never heard of that one before, I will have to check that out. Thanks!

There are some dogs who are fed garlic and get along ok, while it makes others seriously ill. There are also a few dogs who can eat some grapes and/or raisins, and get along ok, and it will kill other dogs. The same is true for onions. The bad news is that no one can tell whether these things will bother a given dog, so on internet forums like this one often has people giving advice about feeding such things to dogs. Avocados can make some dogs ill. Persin is something in them that makes for diarrhea and vomiting in some dogs.

I do not recommend feeding things like this to dogs at all. But to each his own, and some end up learning the hard way. A good list of such things to avoid is at the link below. It is a good reference, although not complete, for any dog owner to have read at least once. I also recommend keeping the phone number of the ASPCA Poison Control Center there on your phone emergency list if you have a dog.

I've never seen a dog turn down a Beer..lol

Not that I let my dog have it, but you gotta watch leaving one where they can get to it.

My puppies have teeth!!!

And are out of the dog house today even tho its a bit chilly, they don't seem to mind.

Avacados- contains persin which damages heart muscles
Garlic/Onions-Damages red blood cells causing anemia
Grapes/rasins- Damages kidneys
Alcoholic drinks-depress the nervous system
Macadamia nuts-cause muscle and nervous system proplems

IMO my dogs health is important to me and I am not going to test out if they are one of the few that it might not effect. I know my friends Husky ate a pound of M&Ms and nothing happened yet there was a JRT that had one square of a chocolate bar and went in to seizures and almost died. SO it just isn't worth it to bother giving them any of the above.

Moons- As their father is alcoholic, the puppies will not mind cold weather.

Can anybody tell me, is fish i.e. Tuna, Salmon OK for dogs?

Some people says that it endanger the dog's skin!!!!!

by hodie on 27 February 2010 - 19:02

Fish is fine for dogs, in moderation and will provide good oils for their skin health. But much of the worlds fish supplies are contaminated with mercury. So a steady diet of fish is inadvisable.

Moons, I have had dogs that liked to lick some beer off of my finger, but I never gave them enough to make them tipsy.....I did not want to waste it on a dog....LOL
