I have a question for anyone that can help. I have a black and red female German Shepherd that is from working/showlines. She the bicolor gene from her grandfather. If I breed her with a true bicolor sire would I produce true bicolor pups?

How do you know she has the bi-color gene?

Well her grandsire on her sires side was a bicolor.

I would say you could breed for several generations and still not throw bi-color pups with any predictability.
I have not seen a truly rich red bi-color anywhere.

How about a geneticist with a lab and all the animals submit DNA, then do a little gene splicing and poof!!

But I don't think its that simple or that such things are that predictable especially concerning bi-colors.
Whats on paper doesn't alway turn out that way in real life.

You are right, it is not that simple but I said she knew a decent amount on what to 'expect'.
She may not know ALL or FOR SURE, but she can give an idea.
