Okay, people, we, (RESCUES) are getting alot of these dogs in/OR ASKING TO BE TAKEN IN...it is so hard to say no, I am so sorry, but I just can't take that dog in, You will have to have it PTS...They are moving besides and are keeping the other dog and getting rid of the protective dog....
It is not the dogs fault....that it is going to get Put To Sleep...it is the owners...
SO SAD, SO SAD INDEED....
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THIS DOG, WHO GAVE 9 YEARS OF HIS LIFE TO THESE PEOPLE. ONLY TO HAVE IT SQUASHED IN SECONDS, BECAUSE THEY ARE MOVING AND WON'T TAKE HIM WITH..BUT THEY WILL KEEP THE "OTHER" DOG...
PISSES ME OFF BIG TIME PEOPLE...

The idiot I got Ranger from wouldn't even let people pet him. One day, my mother's husband, Larry, was visiting, and they were having a corn roast. As Larry fed the dogs when Richard was away, they both knew him, and had come over to say 'hello'. Richard asked where they were, and Larry replied, "Candy is lying by my feet, and Ralph (now Ranger) has his head in my lap, and I'm petting him!"
"What do you think you're doing?" Richard protested. "I'm raising German Shepherds here, not lapdogs!" He then put both the dogs back on their chains.
I guess I owe Larry a big "THANK YOU" for making sure Ranger got some socialization during his first three years!

Had a couple come in saying that they would have to shoot their dog because it bites the kids--so after about 1 hour of standing there telling us they would have to shoot the dog if they had to leave with it- come to find out they kept the dog in the carrier because the kids wouldn't leave it alone. So because they can't control their children the dog was going to be shot. I tried to tell my co-worker that if they were going to shoot the dog they would not be standing here for the last hour telling us they were going to do it ,they would of just done it. BUT she took the dog anyway
Then about 2 month or so later they came in with 2 Mastiff's saying that they just rescued them but was hoping the female was pregnant. (THANK GOD she wasn't) because they wanted their children to see the miracle of life- maybe they should of showed them the agony of death also.
I agree with the last person you can't fix stupid!!!!!!!!
just thought I would share

On the way to my daughter's house, there is a HUGE empty manufactuing plant with numerous buildings. I have often thought that if I ever hit the lottery I'd buy it and turn it into condos for people who love and would be willing to take care of animals. Use one building for rescue kennels and have everybody living there, as part of the condo agreement, volunteer for a schedule a few days a week for upkeep, walking, feeding, etc. Dog lover's paradise and a team effort. The property is on the river and spans 1/2 mile so there would be plenty of room for fenced, off-lead/excercise areas. Of course, there would also be no limit on pets kept in private residences and boarding would be included in the monthly fee for residents. Oh to dream...

but I must say what pisses me off is that these people pawn their problems off on someone else instead of having the will to deal with it themselves.
Your right the people are the problem.
I would put this dog down in a heart beat rather then see it suffer more humans.
It is nine years old and I don't think you could cure the biting at this age.
There are better candidates for re-homing, and every shelter complains about the lack of funds and resources.
And what of other breeds, I know this is a GSD sensitive site but I don't see any difference between any other deserving animal out there.
It all pisses me off,
animals suffering humans pisses me off,
humans suffering humans pisses me off.

Don't even get me started. This is the same shit I see week after week in my rescue. People THINK that it is ok for a dog to be "protective" only they don't really know what that should mean. All too often, it is a lame ass excuse for the people who own the dog to have simply neglected training and socialization. It is exactly the dog who pays for this in the end. It is also why I cannot ever probably be a successful and profitable breeder. I WILL NOT place dogs, even rescues, with people who should not have them. That means, if they are unwilling to get experienced help in training and socialization if they don't already have a track record, they won't get a dog from me. My attitude hurts me, I admit. Because these same people will just drive down the road and buy one or adopt one, while people like me or you struggle trying to make ends meet. Just this week alone I have received 7 requests to take a dog. NOT ONE had a legitimate reason for giving the dog up.
I have to stop because I have to go now. But I also need to stop because this entire situation makes me crazy. The ONLY thing that saves me is that I have some sense and know when I cannot do any more than I am doing.

Lets try Ceasar.
Sorry more of that morning attitude.
An animal never really deserves to be put down, but sometimes it's necessary.
An animal deserves not to suffer, and people need not to be bitten.
People need to realize it's not an evil thing.
