I own Quartz von der Mauespitz aka Hanns.  His is about 18 months old now and a wonderful dog.  We do not show him and have done minimal work with him.  He is a quick learner and had extremely high ball drive.  He loves to swim and has great stamina.  He would run 12 -15 miles while I roller bladed along with him last summer when we lived in Reno.  Then would swim and play at the park for an hour and still would not be ready to go home.  He is very protective and has a great build.  We get so many compliments every time we take him out.

Wesley, I know Worker from his owner. He is a nice dog. Did you import Hanns?

I would make one comment on your post. I would be very, very careful about taking the dog 12-15 miles in summer in Reno. He will go with you to the ends of the earth, but that is a long way for him to trot and if he is getting too hot, it could kill him before you even know wonder why he is down. Dogs can get heat stress or heat stroke, just as humans can, only they cannot tell you how they are feeling. Just consider this and be careful so he lives a long and happy life with you.

And I will second Hodie's warning as that very thing happened to a friends 9 month old who she had with someone ..he biked him at a fairly high (too high) speed and for way too long and then played ball.. he didn't intentionally hurt the dog but the dog wanted to do more until he couldn't and then it became an emergency situation....

He went into full heat stroke and it was only mildly warm in the fall in the south that day,, kind of a beautiful fall day..... It was touch and go but after some more than excellent critical care, he pulled thru... it was touch and go initially and it was a number of days and more than several thousand dollars later but he is good ....

I was very worried, these situations don't often end so happily

Keep having fun, just a little less maybe?? :)

I don't know anything about this dog, but I too would be anxious about such long runs. I climb mountains at the weekends, but I wait until the dog is at least 2.5 years before they have a long day out, and even then I wouldn't take them on epic journeys (sometimes we could be out for 8 plus hours). I tend to keep the exercise to a few hours walking/climbing with plenty of rests along the way (but gain wouldn;t do this very often with them). I've had dogs who would go all day - but I think it's too much for them. Great you can spend so much time with your dog though. Lucky dog!

What a small world!

We have at my work your dog's littermate Ques. He is currently in K9 pretraining and he is awesome!  V quality structure, gorgeous type, great drive, stable nerves, very eager to please. I have had the pleasure of taking him out twice and he was a complete pleasure to work with and I hope I get to handle him a few more times before he is placed with his officer/department.

If your dog is anything like his brother I envy you, I would take him home any day!
