Has anyone ever bred their male to an **unapproved** female?  What would constitute an **unapproved** female?  Would that be like your male came home with something from the local trailer park wearing Daisy Dukes, full of jailhouse tats, missing teeth, with a 40 wrapped in a paper bag dragging 3 little ones behind her and told you "he was in love"?  Would that be considered **unapproved**?????

I would think that definition would be different for every single breeder.

Some might not breed their stud dog to untitled females.
Some might not breed their stud dog to females without hip ratings.
Some might not breed their stud dog to a maiden/unproven bitch.
Some might not breed their stud dog to a female carrying too close a line breeding.

I mean, some might not like bi-colors, some might not sables, some might not want to cross a showline with a workingline, really it has no general meaning at all.

It simply is a disclaimer that breeders put on their breeding - that just cause you show the money - they have the right to say who their dog breeds to....

I would  consider "unapproved" to be started too young, been with too many other studs, certain colors, etc. Maybe from a third world country. You know...stuff like that.

If you had a gem like this, would you let him nail just any old bitch?

This is what started my rampage last night. Check out the pedigrees...they don't mean one particular "Troll." They make note that there are several different dogs named Troll in the 10 generation pedigree. LMAO. I shit you not.

I think Phil was joking. I don't always like his jokes, but really, the whole term is pretty silly. Why not just say what your requirements are to breed to your stud?

by happyday on 24 February 2010 - 15:02

Alot of breeders do post their requirements of "approved"- but still it would have the disclaimer "approved bitches".  Even if the dog has the qualifications that the breeder says is exceptable - it is still up to them if they want to breed with that dog.  They have a "out" if they want one..

When I say approved bitch, I mean over two years old with hip checks (non dysplastic), current vaccinations, and Brucellosis test.

Unapproved are bitches that are not worthy of being bred;  major faults.

I found a breeder once who would breed my unapproved bitch for the right price.
Privately of course.

They each have their own reasons for this approval

Thank you Jenni, yes in fact it was a joke.  Obviously any dog that you breed your dog to was **Approved**.
