Does anyone have a recommendation for a good undercoat rake? I have a single row with 2 different size teeth, but it does not do a good job. I was considering a double row rake. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This one takes out a lot of undercoat without doing too much damage (there is a little) to the topcoat. It's expensive, but worth it. Also, the dogs find it more comfortable than a traditional rake with pointed teeth.

I use a double coat rake with the turning spikes and have god success with it. For me it works better then a furminator, as this one made the top coat look dull.

I have a double row undercoat rake that I love by master grooming tools. One row is taller than the other. It is much more efficient than the other one I have. I found this listing on eBay - 8.50 plus 3.24 shipping.

I use a furminator for the short hair on his lower legs.
I finish with a natural bristle brush and remove the fur from the brush with the undercoat rake.
Pharaoh really likes it. When he sees me bring out his grooming bag he runs out on the deck to get groomed.

I actually use a cheap black barbers comb. The wider teeth get in there and get the clumps out pretty good. Plus, at $1.25 I can have a bunch around since I misplace everything LOL. Abbie has sensitive skin and sore joints from age so the flex in the comb seems to make brushing more tolerable for her. Give it a try. At that price it is no big deal if you do not like it :)

This is the absolute best undercoat comb I have ever used, also great on longer haird GSD's or other dogs...I used to be a groomer and some 30 odd years ago, I had one in wood. Used it till just recently when one of my rescues, got ahold of it and demolished it...couldn't believe the wood one lasted that long...I had a local pet shop look for one for me to replace it and came up with this one, not quite as wide, but still does an awesome job, I think the angle is what make the biggest difference. This works really great on all the neck and feathering too...you wouldn't believe how much undercoat it gets out, I have a straight one too, and it doesn't get out half of the hair this one does...

i will brush the coat 1st with a slicker brush to loosen the fur, then use this undercoat rake. it works fantastic and doesnt break the coat.
