Hi all:

Well I believe this winter must be taking a toll on many here we all seem a little more irritable  then normal, The posts have become more ugly then normal everyone taking offense to the smallest thing and those who thrive on the dissension among us keep the ball rolling which in it,s self is pitiful.

Several here can really not contribute well to the site but that should not stop them from posting if they can learn from being here then thats what it is here for. There are a couple who can contribute nothing so they contribute  to pollute and destroy any kind of useful discussion on topics that have no reason to be here.

I,ve seen posters start threads just to turn it into a pissing match and I feel sorry there lives are so small that this is what it takes to feel useful.

There are many here that have good knowledge and are a resource for all some I agree with some not but that is what makes the world interesting and this place unique we can,t allow the couple to drag this site down to a mud bath.

If the trolls can,t contribute positley to a thread or make a lite hearted thread for simple humor to liten the day just don,t feed it any ammo. Like cutting the blood flow to a tumor, they will go away.

Hell I,m even guilty of egging on one of them which after a while the challenge is gone finding there is no inteligence there to figure out they are making bigger ass of them self,s,

Lets try to remember that this is a GSD site first and formost and remember when the trolls come a callin just don,t answer the phone.

"Oh, Lord, make my words this day soft and sweet...

For tomorrow, I may have to eat them!"  Author Unknown

There is a lot of viciousness...I think the nastiness I've been watching tear this board apart for months comes from the down economy, and the worries that things will never improve.  They may not..I'm not going to lose sleep over things I can't control regarding money and the economy.  I do really wish they'd let those big banks and insurance companies go under, though...It would save a lot of tax payer dollars and would maybe smarten up the business world to the fact that you cannot keep spending money and giving yourself bonuses when your company is broke!

Have a good one.

Well said Bob.Great analogy of tumor and troll.
Well if you want dog talk....I had a situation earlier. I have 3 male dogs.2 that are dog aggressive...although the one gets along with the other dog(my german Shepherd Dar) that it grew up with. The new boy on the other hand kinda off sets things.Trying to get them to tolerate eachother.ANYHOO....I was taking the Rotty mix out and the neighbors Akita Chow thing that looks like a lion came walking up to us. I didn't notice at first till my little guy went off.I have mine on a leash....this guy didn't have his on a leash let alone was he paying attention to the dog and where it was going!! So I called out for the guy to get his dog.The dog wouldn't stop coming towards us as I was holding my dog back(he is a little scrapper) and telling the big fur ball to go away.FINALLY the guy got his dog to come to him and leave us alone. I had told him a week ago.PLEASE keep that dog on a leash,in a dog run....something. He said ok.Yea I guess OK for that day that I told him. I really don't want to have to deal with a dog fight when my dogs are on leash and the other isn't.
What would you do if this happened to you?
I don't want to have problems with the neighbors as we are all in the same complex. It isn't like it is a neighbor down the street. They are attached the the place I am in.
It is so annoying.

If there is a landlord i,d talk to him I understand the need to keep the peace where you live but if you don,t something may end up in peices.

LAVK do I feel your pain!

In my neighborhood, I had a neighbor who let his lab mix, his beagle and his large fuzzy white something just run loose.  The lab mix was incredibly aggressive and when I'd be walking my GSD girl, on leash, around the block he would not only come out of his yard but across the street, barking and snarling like an SOB.

He kept coming closer and closer and one time I was out walking with my dog and my young son and I said, enough.  Sure I can keep my girl under control as I have good control over her, I have her on a leash and if I have to I can physically lift her up and back but this other dog was ramping up to actually jump on her at which point it would have been a nightmare, especially if I had my son with me.

Personally I was in a situation where I could stop walking around the block in that direction and in the end, that's what I did but I ran the gambit of considering calling AC on the guy to taking matters into my own hands (remember, his loose dog was coming off his yard and ACROSS the street ... at that point, in my eyes, fair game) but I realized there was little AC could do from just one complaint.

I even considered talking to the owner but I heard from our other neighbors (a lot of people have dogs around here) that the guy simply did not give a damn and would shut the door in your face.

Some people you just can't get to listen.  Bob has a good idea about maybe getting the landlord involved but I would assume the landlord would have to issue a certain # of warnings before taking action and by the time you get through the warnings you could have already had an issue.

Maybe smile politely next time, hand the owner a business card from your vet and tell him that if there is a fight, you'll be sure your vet has his name to send the invoice too?

Thanks Bob and RLHAR.Unfortunatly the landlord is an idiot and has no balls to say or do anything. There IS a leash law in town and even here(I am outside of town) My friend is AC and well they don't do crap!!! I can't believe he gets paid with the little that he does. There is another guy I guess that has come up here that is AC but my road is a bit tucked back and most people don't know it is here.Maybe I can meet up with the AC guy and tell him to come down this road some time for the hell of it to see if the dog is loose. I guess their other old Lab was in "jail" cause it didn't have it's rabies vax and it bit the guys gf little girl in the face when she went to hug him!! I would have beat the crap out of my dogs if they bit a kid!!! It is one thing if they are playing and by accident the dog went for the toy in the kids hands.(of course that is up to the owner to watch that situation) This Lab is a jerk and has even come up to me growling like the one you were talking about RLHAR. If that dog sees me with the dogs he goes away....but that other one....he is ballsy and comes up to us.He might not be aggressive but I don't want my dogs that are on leash to attack him and then he would chime in. I am working with the new dog that was given to me cause of his aggression. He is getting better and I can controle him on leash but I can't control other dogs that are loose. There are so many people her that don't get  it. Not the brightest people in this town.

Honestly LAVK it sounds like your best bet it to turn the situation around and use it to your advantage until you can hopefully find a way to difuse it.

I know, that sounds lame but in my case I put my focus on my girl and on enforcing her obedience in the face of a loose dog.  IE put her on fuss, had her toy with me, made *me* as more interesting as I could in the face of the temptation to be aggressive back at the other dog.

Now she has never really been dog aggressive, she's one of those if you don't start it with her she won't start it with you but I think that I did get some good proofing of my own control over her in situations where there is no control over the other dog.  I've had encounters with loose dogs and situations where a dog has gotten aggressive over their toy and I can call her too me and she always dances up to me with an expression of 'oh Mom's more interesting than any ole stinkin toy or mouthy canine!'

It's not the silver bullet answer I know but as they say 'you can't fix stupid' and it sounds like you're dealing with an owner who is either an idiot or simply doesn't give a darn.
